Congratulations to all and commiserations to all still fighting this. I called RBS for the first time today on their freefone number to find out what was happening following receipt of a letter a couple of months back dated just 'June' no day, telling me they had been granted an 8 week extension. This would bring them to August 31st. I was told nothing about the status of my claim today when I got through (not too long a wait to their call centre) to be told that they are "a little behind". My letter has not been sent out yet. "I should hear something by the end of the week" they said. This was an RBS 'MINT' loan that was settled early in 2008 and was taken out for five years in 2006. Niggly helped me with calculations which show that if I win I should get at least £5K back. My claim went in on May 10th this year following my perusal of what mis-selling comprised. The basis of my claim was coercion, as I had responded to a 6.3% loan offer and was coerced into taking PPI that I did not want. I had to consolidate an existing loan of £8000 into a £25,000 loan in total, and they told me that taking PPI would "help me qualify for the loan at 6.3%." It is an interesting one. Not straighforward, but a clear case of misselling. I sense that RBS ((who own MINT) are slow and raclacitrant on upholding claims compared to quite a few other banks from reading the successes. and I expect a long fight and a referral to the FOS.

Don't hold your breath. My claim went in to RBS in August 2010 and am still awaiting a response other than "We have until the 31st August". Reading these threads there are people who claimed in June/July last year who are still waiting. Congratulations to all who have been successful.

Hi All and please excuse my newness!

Our business loan was taken out in November 2002 with Lloyds TSB and repaid in February 2005.
We have had a registered compliant with the FOS since 2009. In July 2011 we received a letter from them which stated our complaint had been upheld and an offer would be made within 10 weeks. We are still waiting. I spoke to the FOS on Friday last and they stated that we should contact them again if we have not heard from Lloyds TSB by 19th September.
We are confused about the difference between PPI and BLRI (Busines Loan Repayment Insurance). Are the calculations for recompense the same?

These are our figures...is there anyone who can help as to what our offer should be?

    Loan £95,000
Arrangement Fee £1425.00 (added to loan)
    Legal Fee £190.00
BLRI Premium £23233.44 (added to loan)

Interest Rate Currently 7.00% per Annum (as at 2002)
    Debited Monthly @ 0.58%
    Credit Period 180 months

    Number of repayment 180
    Repayment of Frequency Monthly
    Loan Repayment £866.70
    BLRI Repayment £208.83
    Total Repayment £1075.53

As I said we cleared the loan in March 2005 and we were credited with £16774.49 Business Loan Insurance Refund.

    Any help much appreciated

hi all just been reading this on the guardian website, lets see if it happens:eek:

The six banks – HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Bank of Scotland, the Co-operative Bank and Egg – were granted the temporary extension by the FSA to ensure their backlogs of complaints were handled properly.
Many firms had decided to put some or all of their PPI cases on hold when the banking industry mounted a legal challenge to the FSA's new complaint handling measures. The banks abandoned their challenge in May, opening the way for millions of people to receive compensation totalling billions of pounds.
It is understood that the banks were supposed to send out letters telling people whether their complaints had been upheld or not, and, in the case of those individuals who were successful, at the very least provide information about how much money they were likely to receive. The redress is typically taking the form of a refund of premiums paid plus interest.
HSBC has been sending out these "decision letters", but some have not contained all the necessary information about redress.
In a statement to the Guardian, a bank spokesman said: "Over the past 12 weeks we have been in weekly contact with the FSA over our processing of customer PPI complaints. We have already written to all customers whose complaints were on hold due to the judicial review with a decision on their complaint, and will have communicated the final redress amount to all customers with an upheld complaint by the end of this week

I am not the one for workings out with calcs but I'm sure someone will be along shortly, good luck.

Hiya, sorry to hear this news, EGG seem to be a nightmare on not upholding complaints, and i have read a few rejections from them today.

If this was not the final decision, then i would write back and ask them to reconsider, but try giving them more details.
    Was this sold online?

Work on why they rejected your complaint, for example, was it because it was purchased online and it was an opt out?

In this case, as it may have applied to you, then I would tell them you assumed it was all part of the policy because you tried opting out and it would not allow you to go further with the application.
I understand this have been a problem for many on here.

Did they enclose details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS)? if so you could go to them now, but otherwise write to them give them 14 days and ask them to reconsider, make them aware if you do not hear anything or if they do not change the decision in your favour then you will take this complaint further.

Good luck on this, please keep us posted.
    Cheers.;)
