Also, I wondered if anyone could work out roughly what they think I should receive so I can compare it to what they say, my details are below:
I took out a Halifax unsecured personal loan October 2004 for £5,000. The APR was 12.7%.
Amount of Credit (Cash Loan) £5,000
Total Charge for credit for Cash Loan £2,577.64
Total amount you pay for cash loan £7,577.64
Insurance Loan (Cash price of insurance) £1,498.44
Total charge fir credit for insurance loan £772.08
Total amount you pay for insurance loan £2,270.52
84 monthly payments of £117.24
APR 12.7%
Loan £6,498.44
Total charge for credit of loan £3,349.72
Total amount you pay £9,848.16
Monthly interest rate 0.987%
Arrangement Fees £64.98
(I was totally shocked when I realized this as I would never have agreed to take insurance at this price and as you can see from the above, a £5,000 loan is costing me almost double with a repayment amount of £9,848.16 in total!!)
Thanks in advance
You will get back roughly £3,200 depending on the date of settlement and the date you made the payments. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -

Thank you for taking time to do that, I have no idea how to work out what I would get etc.
The loan still isn't settled, will this affect anything or will they just use the money to settle it and pay the rest via cheque?
Thanks again0 -
Good afternoon all,
Does anyone happen to have the email address for the CEO of HSBC? I originally complained about PPI two years ago, (that's right people, 2 years ago!) had the complaint rejected, sent it to the FOS, who have had the judicial review to wait on. Just over a month ago I received a letter from the FOS to say the complaint has been upheld and that HSBC will be in touch with an offer soon. Still nothing received in the post, and patience is starting to get very thin now. In the grand scheme of things, a few weeks out of two years is not much, but two years to have a complain resolved is pretty shambolic in my book. I'd love to know the banks reaction if i didn't pay my credit card bill for two years!
So if anyone can get me the CEO's email address it'd be much appreciated.
Many thanks people!0 -
hi i recieved a letter the other day from rbs this is what it says.
As our final response we would like to offer you a refund of all the ppi premiums paid (inclusive of interest) plus simple interest at 8%. As part of our offer to you we have also included a refund of premiums (and other cost you incurred e.g interest) in connection with the ppi policies with the loans you opened on 22nd may and 31st march 2004 we have considered these loans because they refinanced the loan /ppi you have complained about.
They dont mention how much the total pay out is but want me to sign the agreement before they send me a letter to let me know the total payout and how they worked it out. they are going to pay me on three loans i had the first two i dont know how much the ppi was but the last one i should be getting a refund of around £3000. should i just sign the paper work or ring them to see if they will tell me the final payout0 -
