Well, after a 9 month wait, I was pleased to finally get my final letter back from RBS detailing the outcome of their investigation...............

After opening and reading, I had gone from pleased to downright angry with a capital A. They have replied saying that they have investigated for 9 months and found no record of a PPI agreement. Yes RBS - thats because you have sent a final decision on the WRONG loan.

I have checked all of my mail correspondance over the past 9 months with RBS, they all refer to the correct loan I am complaining about. I have letters confirming that my PPI policy had been cancelled and my monthly payments reduced accordingly. I have had letters stating that they agree I have a case - all quoting the CORRECT loan account number.

So why oh why have they got to the end of their investigation and responded with a decision for a loan account I havent even complained about? What do I do now? Do I call them tomorrow, explain and give them a chance to rectify the most obvious of errors or do I simply go straight to the FOS?

I would be upset and angry if they rejected the complaint for the PPI I am complaining about. But to spend 9 months waiting for a response, only to get a response for the INCORRECT loan that I havent even complained about is frustrating beyond belief.

    Advice needed please!!
Ring them back and put them right, this happened to me with Barclays,if you dont jump on it now you will have an even longer wait, believe me.
It took 18 months to rectify mine!.

I wonder can any of u lovely people help, my friend bought a kitchen on finance (actually turned out to be similar to a credit card) from GE Money in 2002, she was told she had to take the PPI insurance even though she didn't want it as she and her hubby would be covered for sickness etc from theire employers. The loan was to finish in 2009 but she paid it early, but still found herself paying the insurance right until 2009. She tried to cancel it on many occassions but they woukdn't let her.

She complained to GE Money a couple of weeks ago and this is their response.

Thankyou for contacting us about the sale of your Payment Protection Insurance Policy.

Based on the information you have provided any complaint you may have concerning the sale of your PPI policy is time barred under the limitation act 1980.

Please also note that GE Money Home Lending companies were not at any time members of GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) which at the time administered a voluntary code only applicable to GISC members.

This letter is our final response on this matter. However you can contact the Finance and LEasing Association (FLA) about the complaint within six months from the date of this letter. A copy of our complaints handling leaflet is enclosed, which gives more information on how you can contact the FLA.

    Yours sincerely.

What does this time barring mean? I know from my own experience with my D Perkins card the FLA are as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
Can she not go to the FOS?

Sorry to bombard you with so many questions.

    Thankyou in advance :)
If i were you,i would go for the insurer, they are right, they were not covered in 2002, this only started in jan 05.

Could the FLA or FOS tell you the insurer?,also if the insurer says no,then FOS can help, but be aware, your friend could be waiting a very, very long time.

So will I go to the back of the queue and have to wait another 9 months? What an absolute joke. They have referred to the correct loan agreement all the way throughout the process? How on earth have they managed to then come up to a final decision for the wrong loan. Ridiculous.

I can accept mistakes, but it almost feels like they have done it on purpose. Jokers.

    Hello all,

I have two claims from Barclay's which in a letter they said i would have a full answer by the 17th & 25th August. I gave them a bell on Friday regarding the claim due a response on the 17th & the bloke on the phone was very helpful & promised i would get a phone call on Monday. He said he could see some notes on my claims but no figures but reckoned it should not be long before i get a full response. The thing that worried me was that he said he could see that the claims had been re-opened???? What does this mean???? Also has anyone had any kind of success with Barclay's? I look on this thread regularly & have not seen many people mention Barclay's? Thanks, Tony.

Well i waited until 4:00pm today & no phone call so i gave them a ring. The lady put me on hold while she tried to contact the correct department but guess what she said she could not get through & it was just ringing. So she said someone will phone me this week sometime!!!! So it lloks like the date they promised to contact me by (17th August) was a load of bo**oc*s!!!

Really winds me up that as soon as i go £1 over my overdraft they hound me but now i am asking them for money which is rightfully mine they cannot stick to there promise arrrrrggggghhhh :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::A:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi there

Sorry to hear of the messing around on this one.

Yes I would contact them first on this, either email or ring them, if you email them maybe it would be a good idea to also email their CEO, ask them what on earth is going on here.

Hope this resolves, please let us know how you get on and we can take it from there, fingers crossed.;)

I would re-contact them again tomorrow, or leave an email with the CEO as well, maybe the message will get through to them, with a bit of luck.
Hope they get back to you tomorrow, its not fair what they have done here and that is so true as well, if the shoe was on the other foot.
