  • Hi all, new to this forum, just needed your help. I have followed Martins letter and sent off to Natwest saying I was mis sold as they told me I had to have the insurance otherwise I wouldn't get the loan. They have investigated and found no wrong doing as I have signed all the forms etc. BUT they have offered me £750 as a goodwill gesture!! I was paying £140 per month over 6 years and payed the insurance up front. Should I take the offer or continue the claim with the off? I cannot afford to lose this £750 though. Deal...or No deal!!
  • I claimed from HBOS for mis-sold PPI on my Halifax credit card.
I used the template letter from this site (Many thanks Martin), and received a positive reply within a few weeks that I would be refunded as per the request conditions. Since leaving home 2 weeks ago to my job in Azerbaijan, my wife has informed me that a further letter has arrived with the details of the repayment which totals to £12500 !!!!! They have calculated all the premiums paid, added the interest paid on the premiums and the 8% p/a interest I asked for. What a result. I have just posted similar letters to 3 other card companies, including EGG, so I'll let you know what happens. My sincere thanks.
    • What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    • Who was the provider: Halifax
    • How much did you get back: To be confirmed, but in the region of £1500
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1st Letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale...
I took out a 3 year loan of £8000 with Halifax back in 2002. I took the loan out face to face in my local branch and was in and out in about 10mins. It was only recently when reviewing the paperwork that i realised that I had paid for PPI.

I used the template letter and sent it recorded delivery on 18/11/08. Halifax were very good at dealing with my complaint and sent me 3 seperate letters to confirm it was still being investigated. I had another letter today not admitting liability, but stating that they will pay me an amount that will put me back in the situation I would of been in if I hadn't taken the insurance. They are going to contact me shortly with the exact amount, and will pay this into my Halifax account within one month.

Thanks for the advice, the money will be put to very good use in my fund for a house deposit :j

Its entirely up to you here but if they have offered something to me its a kind of admittal to something... . I would post this on the PPI reclaiming discussion thread for others to give their views and see what help they can offer. If it were me I would try for the rest...;) . Please do as you find fit but that is just my opinion. £750 compared to what you actually paid is nothing..
  • daughter sent 1st template 4 weeks later letter said they are investigating another 4 weeks and they have offered her full refund £1130 on her ppi

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI mis-sold on a loan
    • Who was the provider: Marks & Spencers
    • How much did you get back: Just over £4000 including interest
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale Encouraged by this site, I wrote to M&S using the standard letter template, they wrote back acknowledging my letter & saying that they were investigating it. I've since heard from them saying that I was mis-sold it and I will be sent a cheque.
Thanks so very much to Martin for highlighting this issue, so appreciated!
  • So does anyone think from the second letter I received that it won't be successful? Halifax have given a yes or no to people alot quicker and I just find it strange that this has happened.

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment with my first letter to Halifax I got the same response about investigating my claim, I never held much hope either but I can't fault them for keeping me informed throughout my claim which was successful. I would wait until you recieve a response about their decision or if you have not heard anything after a couple of weeks from their decision date then I would send them a letter to query or even call the number provided on your claim decision letter.
Hope your claim comes through for you.
