Nice one Pinknico. You deserve some luck...:j  :j
  • That was a quick turnaround, I don't think mine will be so quick and I think I will get a no as I have now defaulted on my loan as I have had to go onto a DMP so I don't know how that works. I can but try.

    Loan Amount: £6000
    Interest: £1353.12
    Insurance: £1175.80
    Interest: £265.16
    Total Credit: £7175.80
    Outstanding Loan Amount: £3182.25

I got a letter from Halifax today say they are sorry but they are still looking into my complaint and I should hear from them by January 19th, not looking good. :(
  • Hi, as mentioned yesterday the firm I was claiming against has agreed it has misold and they sent me the offer today which does not include interest payments I paid for the PPI or the stat 8% interest. I assume they are trying it on? I will send a second letter but I assume I will need to get the FOS involved. Any advice appreciated

Just want to say thanks to all at MSE for all information on site and templates provided.

I have (or had I should be saying) a loan with Halifax taken out 3 years ago payable over 4 years. I took my loan out at my local branch at the time, without your information I would never have known about the ppi fraud squad.

I was never fully informed about repayments with or without, or about the benefits or cancellation rights, I was not informed about legislation brought in last year regarding cancelation rights either.

I forwarded on one of the MSE template letters and within 2 weeks I received a letter letting me know that Halifax were sorry I was not happy and that my claim was being investigated.

About 2 weeks later I received a letter telling me that because I was a valued customer I would be receiving a refund for the ppi plus interest on amount due back, later that week I got another letter from Halifax telling me how much of a refund I was getting.

For a refund of premiums I was due back £860.80
    Refund of Interest £249.95
    Interest at 8% £140.70
    Total £1251.45

I was delighted by this figure but even more delighted with the fact that they paid off the remainder of my loan balance of £1922.42 as gesture of goodwill.

Thanks again to all at MSE for your information and also thanks to marshallka and di3004 for all the usefull information that I picked up on from all your threads.

Merry Christmas and All the Best to all.

Fossildog, Have you had any actual figures for this refund?? I would just ask them for the breakdown or their calculations and also just put that you assume you will be getting the 8% statutory interest as you were deprived of the monies...

There most certainly would have been interest on the PPI and if you paid this to the full term then you would be entitled to the full amount of the PPI and the INTEREST too. If you settled early they look at the settlement as if you never had the PPI and the settlement you actually paid at the time and take one from the other.
  • After just 2 letters & 1 phone call I've just received a cheque for £159.88 as a goodwill gesture from DFS. This is a full refund of my PPI, I won't argue over the interest, it's just not worth it.

This will definately help over Christmas.

So does anyone think from the second letter I received that it won't be successful? Halifax have given a yes or no to people alot quicker and I just find it strange that this has happened.

No I don't think it means it wont be successful , I had the same response from the Bank of Scotland and they will get back to me by the 14th January.
Either they are very busy or have no immediate record of the selling of your PPI. Is the date still within the 8 week timescale?
