Hi, MBNA have just upheld my PPI complaint:j:j, how can I work out how much I can hope to receive? CC was at £12000, had this for 6 year.

    Hi all!

For the past year now (its taken this long ) so far! I went through HSBC to complain and claim back my PPI on a loan through them! as per usual i didnt get far! So i went the the FOS (Ombudsman) who was soooo helpful! Its taken about 9 months in total for a reply and the FOS always kept me updated! Yesterday i got a letter in the post from the FOS saying HSBC are willing to pay out a sum as a good will gesture! However it doesnt tell me the amount and it says if i am happy then to not contact the FOS and i will automatically get the payout! Of course i will phone the FOS to chase up and see what the amount is! Has any one else out there ever had a letter like this? Or know an amount?

    Please post any comments! Thanks

    Hi there

    Well done on your success.

That is the annoying thing here - is not being told an amount, where I think everyone should have the right to know what the offer is before accepting it.
I would personally contact the FOS/the one dealing with your case and tell them you can only decide if you know what the offer actually is to know if you believe its fair to you or not.

If they state they do not know, then maybe you could ask if you could contact HSBC directly to let you know what the offer is perhaps.;)

Hope the FOS will check this out for you, good luck.

    Well done and Congratulations!

Maybe Niggly on here will check them out for you, hopefully he shall be here sometime tomorrow, but will require more details, of when you taken this out to settlement (if the account is settled and so on) I'm sure Niggly will let you know.

    Good luck.

What reasons did you give for mis sell and was this the final response?.

If it was the final response then send it to fos,it may help if you can give more reasons for mis sell to add to the ones you have given.
thanks for the reply no it doesn't say anything about final response but it does say if iwant to contact him use number above it was from high level complaints suppose thats what i get for sending 2 emails to ceo! the orignal complaint was a letter and thought they would send me questionaire the reasons were
    me having underlying health problems
said we didn't want it and told guy at time this
the reply on friday says more or less staff were fully trained and he asked us all the questions and we fully understood i know for a fact i would not say i had no underlying health problems.he also says wehad time to read over agreement and cancel it.
whats best for next move do i phone him or write suppose if i write i can keep copy for fos

    Hiya
I would then contact them again, in writing would be better if you want to, and tell them your not happy with the decision they made on your complaint, and are requesting they take another look and reconsider.
Tell them you believe this was overlooked and you don't think your full reasons were taken into any consideration.

Tell them the point here is if the staff were well trained then they would have discussed the medical issues with you and made sure that it suited your requirements and they obviously didn't, if they did then you would have been given an opportunity to make them aware that the policy is worthless to you, because you would not be able to make a successful claim on a pre medical condition.

I would also make a point that the paperwork was all jargon to you, and again if the staff were well trained they would have gone through this with you, yet they didn't.
And anything else you feel applicable to add of your reasons x;)
