PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Jus rang First Plus regarding my claim - got the official letter saying about being offered goodwill payment and will hear by 31st August just over 4 weeks ago. We really could have done with this by the end of next week as OH starts his annual leave next weekend and we would have loved to have to have got away for a few days or so but it doesnt look like it is going to happen now. We got the HSBC credit card PPI back but it wasnt quite enough for a holiday plus it is having to pay for other things in the home!!!! He has been on short time working since April so money has been very tight.

So for all you guys who are also waiting on First Plus/Barclays they havent started sending the offer letters out yet I was told, but they will probably be going out within the next week or so. I asked if the cheques would come with this said letter but alas no!!! And it is a cheque that we get, I was hoping if we got the offer within the next couple of days the money could possibly go straight into our bank! But hey ho at least we are getting something back and I am grateful for that - would just have liked to have got away to releve the stress of this year!!!

Thanks for that Dizzy. Well said! Thats good to know, we could have really done with the money to. We are taking the kids away on Friday to cornwall. Oh well we are lucky knowing it willl come soon. I think I would be happy with just an offer letter, so I know what to expect, then I would gladly wait another six weeks lol

Yes I am just looking forward to the offer letter too. I have even thought of possibly taking it to our bank and asking if they would temporarily increase our overdraft so we could get away for a few days as we have had such a bad year, but with the financial state we have been in over the past couple of years (OH was made redundant twice within 18 months and now has had to take a position with half his normal salary and then had to go on short time working so you can imagine the state we have been in) I would doubt that they would agree to it anyway!!! But enjoy Cornwall with the kids and I hope the weather picks up for you.

I had a success from Egg! On May 24th, I just sent one letter asking for T's&C's for the 3k loan I took out about 10 years ago,. I couldn't even remember the date and length of the loan! All my paperwork had long since been 'binned', but managed to retrieve the reference number from old bank statements.
I explained to them that I thought I may have been mis-sold PPI as I was self employed.
Just 7 weeks after posting that letter, I received a cheque for £877.21.
Going after my hubby's mis-sold ppi's now, They could be quite substantial -I hope so, he's promised me a sports car if we get the money back!!

Quick question.

I have a 24 year secured HBOS loan that has monthly PPI.

My guess is that they will refund my payments to date, with interest and then restructure the future payments for 19 years without the monthly PPI payment.

I take it that is the norm and that they won't refund the future payments to me and expect me to pay the future payments out of the settlement?

Spot on re the secured loan.

Mine was successful some weeks back, that had been with them since end of 2010.
How long have yours been with them on complaining?

Wishing you luck and hope you hear some good news soon.;)

You may also be aware that they have been given extra time by the FSA due to the backlog.

I think..(this is why I'm so 'chuffed' ....because I cant remember exactly, yet was still successful!) I took the loan out about 9 years ago, and I think....it was over 5 years, so would have finished 2008.
Egg never actually sent any paper work, just the cheque!

I'll take a raincheck on your sportscar for now - Best wait to see how successfull hubby's claims are!:)

Try 08000 6262124. press #0 as few times to get through to a person and ask for the Judicial Review team. I emailed them on the address Di gave, will look for it - had a proper person call me to discuss it and email confirmation within 24 hours.
