I have received a cheque of £258.22 from Halifax for our secured loan 5 years ago :j :T . It's comes at a right time as our boiler broke down yesterday.
I have sent off 2 days ago follow up letter on our unsecured loan which they have refunded already but we thought ( with marshallka's help) that we have been short changed. I'll wait and see what happens.

- What were you reclaiming: ppi
- Who was the provider: Firstplus
- How much did you get back: £7480.
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: No! they agreed to pay out within 8 week period
- Recieved cheque last Thursday.
- It was just about 6 years to the day since the orignal policy was taken out, so I really thought they would stall. But no, to my surprise the cowboys did cough up. :T

Story so far.
I started writing letters claiming back ppi to my creditors at the end of December 2007. I had 6 claims: 2 closed Halifax loans, 1 live Halifax loan, 1 Halifax cc, 1 live Northern Rock loan and Egg cc.
So far 5 out of the 6 have paid up.
1. Closed Halifax loan1 £880
2. Closed Halifax loan2 £660
3. Live Halifax loan £2500
4. Halifax cc £900
5. Northern rock loan £1500
6. Egg cc ??????
All my claims were rejected by the banks involved so i went down the FOS route. For those out there claiming ppi back, don't be in a rush as it can take along time to get responses.0 -

Darth_chaffinch Of course you can ask!!
I was told that I didn't have suitable protection for the loan so I was unlikely to be able to get the loan unless I took out the PPI.0 -
Hi, I want to start my ppi claim but i don't know whether to a letter or give them a call. Please advice?0

Hi Bernard
And welcome.;)
Next to this thread there is a PPI reclaiming discussion thread, here is the link if you would like to post there in order to get some guidance step by step.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1251243&page=146
Your best off writing a reclaim letter and post it by recorded delivery as they have 8 weeks to respond, and posting this way will be your proof.;)
While I'm here above of the page there is a RED BOX above "reclaim £1,000's", there you will find some PPI info and some of these mis selling reasons may occur to you.
There is also a template letter on there, but write your own reasons.
Let us know the outcome of this and we can guide you to the next step from there, but the above link is where you will get some useful info and help.
Hope to see you there and good luck.;)
