Success claiming back the PPI on a loan from The Alliance & Liecester. Just sent of the first template letter and they made an offer to payback all the PPI plus interest. It only took a week.
Not having quite as much luck with Northern Rock the say they work to a script and so haven't miss sold.
    Great for you kay:beer: :j .

Hi everyone, I am about to send off my letter to HSBC, as i feel i was missold PPI on a personal loan in 2003, but I dont know where to send my letter. My local branch at the time has closed down, so should I send it to the head office (and if it is this address, what should the department be at the head office?) or to another branch near my address?

I am going through this thread page by page, which is taking a while, but its really good to see so many success stories.

please, if anyone can help it would be really appreciated. i am keen to get my letter sent off asap, but want to make sure it goes to the right address!

i'd also been keen to hear from anyone who has been successful with HSBC, so they can give me some tips on what to put in/ leave out of my initial letter.

    thank you in advance

    neil

    Hi

I received a breakdown of the calculations. Have no idea if its correct or not! Would take forever digging out statements if indeed I did have them lol.

I dont need a credit card atm. I do have another one which a direct debit is set up for so a payment is never missed.

I have drafted a letter to BOS regarding closing my account and copied it to the sender of my PPI reclaim! If I dont get a satisfactory response (which I am sure I will not!) I will be writing to the FOS. Draft of letter is below. Is this ok or do you have any advice how it could be amended?

    Thanks v much!

    Dear ......

    Re: Account Number ........

I refer to your letter dated 4th November 2008 regarding expiration of my credit card. I am disappointed to learn than a new card will not be issued. You state in your letter “after reviewing your credit card performance we regret to inform you that we are unable to issue a new card”. Having contacted your office regarding this issue there is no obvious reason how this decision has been reached and an employee advised me to obtain a copy of my credit file. I have obtained a copy of my credit file and my credit score is excellent.

I would like an explanation of your actions regarding closing my account and await your response.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Hiya Deb

Oops sorry hun I missed this one, been over that the PPI reclaiming thread mostly today lol.

Right checked your letter, we done, and it covers what you need to know, but ask them if they can reply within 7 - 10 days, just add on the bottom of your letter if you want to:

"I will appreciate it if you can send me a full response/explanation regarding my query above within 7 - 10 days" as I have checked on my Credit Status and it concerns me of why you are not issuing further Credit Cards as this proves to be of an excellent rating, which you doing this could affect my credit for the future.

As a respectable company I am sure you will respond to the above matter and look forward to receiving your explanation in writing within 7 - 10 days.

And as always post by recorded delivery.:D ;)

Keep us posted too hunni, and good luck on everything here,
(thought I'd push in respectable - to make it look a little polite) lol....:D

  • Evening all,
I have just come home to a letter from Halifax saying they are willing to repay PPI at the rate it was when i took out the loan ie. without the 8% interest. Just looking for some advice on whether to settle now or push it further??? Think the interest would work out to about £230.
    Thanks,
    Lyndsey

Did you actually ask them for the interest too and they refuse??

If you did not then you may be better just saying you are willing to accept but you feel deprived of the monies and that you would expect 8% statutory interest on top..;)

    Hi,
Yes, i asked for interest as per Martin's template. They also said it was policy to pay the money into an account in arrears..so my existing loan. It this correct or can i argue against this? I would like to pay something else off first.
    Thanks,
    L

Some have been known to do this even when going through the FOS but people have argued it. If you have been deprived of the money then you should be allowed whatever you have actually paid against the PPI back to you in a cheque and maybe the rest to be paid against the loan. I think that is how it works or you could still argue all the amount back in a cheque..It is worth a go here. Nothing to lose have you;)
  • Ok, I sent my letter Monday 17th saying I tried to cancel and was told no that I couldn't cancel. I got a letter back today dated 19th saying they were looking into my complaint and it will take up to 8 weeks, so I expect to post on 19th Jan that I have been unsuccessful, it is Halifax after all.

Hi Lynzers, how long did it take Halifax to get in touch from first letter?

Hi, I sent my letter on the 6th Nov, and got a standard 'dealing with your query' letter back on the 10th Nov. Then came home to another letter today, so not too long all in all. However, they are offering to settle without interest...which i'm not too happy about. Suppose you need to pick your battles!
