I have just had £4,000 credited to my account yesterday for the PPL on the loan and today I had a letter stating that they are going to put me back in the position I would have been if I had not had the PPL on the credit card and will contact me soon to advise me of the amount. The amount should be with my calculations somewhere between £5-6k. What a right result.
This only took me one letter for the loan and then a phone to call to halifax about the credit card. I didnt even have to write a letter for the credit card. I seem to have got off quite lightly compared to some in the time taken for replies but however long it takes keep going and Martin, keep up the good work, as if it was not for this site I would have never tried to reclaim.
Thanks. DM
Now im off to the pub for a well earned drink!
How long did you wait from the first phone call to Halifax, I have done this but i also sent a letter claiming back 3 ppi on previous loans.

. Although have to check the settlement statements again. Bear with me on this one Bisoy..
Right they are saying that the total PPI was only 4187.29 and that you made payments of 847.11 and then had a rebate of 3340.18..
All completely different to the statement you put on here.
Was your PPI this amount of £4187.29 or did this have interest on it. I assumed this was the amount before interest...I calculated the repayments were 6 times the PPI of 84.58.(PPI total with interest was 5582)
All these figures are so different.
If you look at your statement I did not know what the amount received as rebate of insurance was exactly but now they are saving that you received the 2998.52 and also the 341.66 as well totalling 3340.18 so that is correct.
I know now what they have done... They have not given you the interest on top of the £4187.29 in their calculation here..They have stated that they would refund to you
"refund the PPI premiums that you have paid plus the interest paid on the premiums and 8% statutory interest." No mention of the interest that you would have paid on the premiums here!!! This would be buried in your settlement figure somewhere perhaps.
Usually it states interest due on the PPI too.
I don't think your PPI in total was the 4187.29 as this amount being a single premium would have interest on it too which they forget to tell you of. They have to now state this seperate on loans.
If you included the interest on the PPI then I get
total PPI 5582.00 - repayments against PPI (which are different to theirs too ) 507.48 for 6 repayments - the rebate 3340.18 = 1734.34
1734.34 + repayments made 507.48 = 2241.82 (this is the amount I get now I have actually found out the rebate amount was both the figures...
You need to ask them about the PPI total including interest here I think. Ask them if the amount of £4187.29 was the actual total including interest...see what they say here. Let me know....
And also ask them about the repayments of PPI made... How they arrived at that figure when you made 6 repayments.
Sorry if I have made any mistakes but I still think if that figure of PPI was without interest they owe you more...although their offer of redress did not include it from what i can tell.
Hi marshallka,
I was on the phone a few minutes ago talking to a halifax customer advisor and asked her about the total PPI on our loan and said that £4187.29 is without interest and then asked how much is the total PPI with interest she said she can't really tell. I then asked about how the arrived the figure about the repayments she tried to explain to me which in layman's term I won't understand. She said that there's no point in sending another calculation as it was done by spreadsheet and not manually and therefore even if I send some figures again it will come up as the same settlement figures all over again. Do you think it is still worth pursuing our claim's? What else can I do?
many thanks.0 -

Hi sweetie.;)
Yes its possible you have a claim.
Do you think you could copy and paste your post over to here hunni?
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1251243&page=66
The link is the ppi reclaim discussion forum where myself and others will be able to guide you through this, and Marshallka is amazing with her calculations where I am sure she will work this out for you.
Once your over at the above link we can help you further, if you have trouble taking your post over there, please let me know hunni, cheers.;)
There are many reasons of why people were mis sold, some did not know it was added to their loans, or they were not given a choice, if you check out the red box above "reclaim £1,000's" there is ppi info on there and a template you can use to help but using your own reasons.
We will help you through this step by step.
Di.

18 Months ago we moved into our present property having just switched lenders. We had a 3 year fixed Mortgage on our last property but had to come out of the agreement early due to financial reasons. We were charged an extorsionate redemption fee of of nearly 6K. To add also to this story when we took out the mortgage via a mortgage broker we were unaware of having an option of taking out the mortgage loan insurance and were told that we had no choice. When we moved into our current property we received a letter from the insurance company via our previous mortgage broker saying that we had cancelled the policy with them when we ceased the mortgage. Therefore we owed the broker monies for their loss of commission. We had to pay over £500 plus court costs on something that we never knew we had. We also received a CCJ over this matter as we refused initially to pay!
Could anyone please advise us if we could claim any of the monies mentioned and if so how to go about doing so?!
Thank you Clare :0)0 -

Hi there.
Sorry to hear of your problems here and blimey that is extortionate... , I do not normally help within the mortgage side of things but there may be ways around this, even if you have to take this to the financial ombudsman service to investigate.
But as you know you should always try to pursue the company at first to give them a chance to put things right, if unsuccessful this complaint may be eligible to be dealt with by the ombudsman service.
You could ask the FOS to write on your behalf if you wanted to, see what they have to say.
However, have you tried posting on the mortgage thread?
There may be more information on the mortgage link where others may have been in the same situation as yourself who can help.
Hope this sorts out, and I would like to wish you the best of luck.;)
