PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere........
Using the templates and advice on this site, I have successfully reclaimed over £9000 in Credit card charges and interest.
Last night, out of the blue, I remembered that my Barclaycard had PPI - I was only really aware of this when arranging a repayment plan with them a year or so ago. At that point, I canceleld the PPI but will have paid it for around 5 years. I dont have a clue how much I have paid over the years - from memory, when I cancelled it I think it was about £25 a month an a balance of about £3500 - might be wrong ??
Anyway, I am assuming the fact that I have already claimed CC charges, will not impact on a potential PPI claim - anyone done this ??
Am also now asking myself, what about the other CCs I had - Abbey/MBNA, Halifax, Citcard - did they all have PPPI. I donthave old statements to hand so not sure how to find out - any advice pls
Thanks0 -
:j Egg has recently kindly reimbursed the PPI on a loan I took out a few years ago - a tidy sum of more than £6500 (which includes interest)!! So I've just a few monthly payments left instead of more than two years! Nice one Martin and team - I used your template for the letter. Got a quick and professional response and obviously I am really pleased/delighted with the outcome - keep up the great work!:T
Hi ZeeZuu
Well done on that!
Just a question though -under what reasons did you reclaim? Did you have to go to the FOS or did Egg refund you without question?0 -

Wow well done Steve......:T  .
Right hun write to the companies and request for copies of your agreements, they should provide you with these free of charge or maybe charge a £1.
You do not really need the statements but they could come in handy.
For these you may need to request for a SAR which is a subject access request, they have 40 days to supply absolutely everything they have on you from start to finish, this costs £10 cheque or postal order payment.
Post by recorded post to keep an eye on the dates.
If you require the SAR template give me a yell hun and well done again.:T

Yes, I too would be very interested to know the details. How many letters did it take and did you send to the Egg Loans dept in Derby?0 -
Heres my response to Egg
Dear Sir/Madam
Further to your letter dated 24/9/08 I have taken further advice and they have confirmed my reasoning in that your terms and conditions cannot be applied i was unlawfully deprived of money and i want both the statutory 8 % interest element adding on and ALL the amount repaying directly to me otherwise i will take my complaint to the FSO.
As for your paragraph "Please find the paragraph below which has been authorised by an adjudicator in the Financial Ombudsman Service in relation to how banks calculate refunds.Basically if a customer owes money to the bank the bank can deduct the amount the customer owes from the amount it owes to the customer. It usually does this by transferring money held to the credit of one of the customers other accounts,."
This is a load of rubbish and I totally reject your attempts to baffle me with it.I again repeat .......You UNLAWFULLY deprived me of the money and I wish to have that money
as stated above plus 8% statutory interest element placed back into my Bank account.
I hereby inform you I am rejecting your attempt to settle in this way.
Egg still sticking out they wont repay me in cash as account still active .I was going to take to FSO but as I have other issues I am dealing with in my personal life have decided to not proceed to that level. It is still a victory just not paid back in the way i wished. However at the same time i reclaimed from Egg I also sent in a claim to HSBC, they were slower to respond but they did keep me informed along the way and today I have had an offer of £2,238.82 this figure the say effectively returns the protection premiums paid plus interest so a success again.
The claiming was easy enough I used the template letters on site and just tailored them to my circumstances.I have been lucky because the 2 companies involved accepted my claim pretty quicly and offered me a settlement.
Thank-you everyone that has encouraged me and I hope this encourages others to persue their claims .:T :rotfl:
Well done you  :beer:0 -

Take some responsibility for your own actions and stop behaving like victims. I'm sure things would be different if all these people had lost their jobs and had to claim against the policies.
I used to think this website was great and I've benefited from, and contributed to, tips for saving money but I'm tired of the 'get back at banks' themes that this website promotes.
Maybe you'll all only be happy when everyone who works for your local bank branch is out of a job. And then you'll moan that there's nowhere to get your cash out of an ATM for free...
The whole point of reclaiming these mis sold policies is exactly that - they were mis sold -and probably wouldn't have been worth the paper they were written on if people had lost their jobs, got ill etc and needed to make a claim.
So get off your high horse. If they weren't mis sold, the courts and financial ombudsman wouldn't uphold the claims now would they? they would tell these thousands of people to get on their bikes and stop wasting every ones time.0 -
For those of you who've had success with Egg can you please let me know which address you wrote to. I sent a letter requesting my T&C's a few weeks back but they claim they've never received it!0

Arhh, good idea. Thanks for that - I actually called them today to request the T&C's of my agreement so that should arrive shortly in the post. But when I come to send the other letters then I will take your advice and use Recorded Delivery.
Thanks for the details :beer:0
