I just sent two letters to Egg this morning, one asking for the terms and conditions of my loan that started in 2001 and the other requesting the details of that loan. Both used templates from the reclaim ppi guide
Good luck, I'll let you know how I get on.

Fingers crossed and good luck on your reclaiming.;)

    Hi all,

been a member for a while but haven't posted for a long time. With seeing in the news regarding the PPI I am going to claim, Please see below a copy of my letter than i am going to send, Is this ok? any advice alterations are welcome :o

"I am writing to you regarding the mis-selling of the PPI on the above Loan accounts.
I would like a refund of the Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) I have paid into that account, and interest, also 8% interest of what a court would award.

I believe this was mis-sold to me as I was not told told about the PPI on this Loan. I therefore believe I have being paying out extra on this Loan that I should not have been paying.

I used this loan to pay of a previous loan (2nd account number above) with yourselves which had PPI on, I was not aware that it had been carried over onto this account.

I look forward to a full response to this letter within 14 days and if I do not receive a satisfactory response I intend to pursue my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service."

    Hi Dan,

I would use the consumer questionnaire (found on this site) to file your complaint. Using your letter as a covering letter.:D

Cheers The Marksman, I don't think i have the policy number for the PPI (as asked for on the questionnaire) Will my account number alone be ok?!

Hi there Dan and welcome back to the forums (no pun intended lol):D.

How long ago was your account opened?
Welcome Finance claims are now being dealt with by the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS), as the business are now in default.

So if taken out after 2005 and it was set up and sold by Welcome contact the FSCS for a claim form.
    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

If this was sold by a broker you pursue them and not Welcome.
And otherwise if sold by Welcome but prior to 2005, I would then contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) and ask them for suggestions on where to take this.
They will possibly suggest the underwriter/insurer of the policy as they have done with many in the same situation.

    More details on FOS here.
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

Good luck and please let us know how you get on, cheers.

Im pretty sure that leaving that space blank is fine, as long as you have the loan account number etc. obviously the more info you can give the better.

Someone else here, one of the experts (di) will be able to confirm this.:D

    Hi Dan

That is cool then, and as The Markman says, you should be able to find the account number by checking statements, and if you bank online this should allow you to go back approx 7 years.
Its likely you will be owed from all loan ppi that was added then.;)
