Hello all!
I got a letter from Egg on Saturday - I had been expecting a letter as my eight weeks was up on Wednesday (the day of the judgement). But instead of a lovely fat offer it said it was leaving my claim on hold until the judgement! I mean, I know that letter might have been computer generated, but the judgement was out that very day...
The letter says it will now review my claim in four weeks! But as it hasn't been able to decide in the eight weeks I can go to the FOS, it says, enclosing a handy pamphlet from the ombudsman.
Shall I phone them and pursue it that way? Or go straight to the FOS?
My original complaint was by phone - I was getting harassed by claims companies and kept insisting I'd never ever taken out PPI, till I got fed up and rang Egg to ask... turns out I had had it on BOTH loans! So they definitely missold it, as I had no idea I had it.
They've been bang on time with their responses even though I only phoned in the first place - maybe I should phone this time too.
The other thing is, their letters still refer to both accounts, even though they've said that as one was settled more than six years ago their policy stops them investigating. I fully intend, once I get the cash for the last loan, to go to the FOS about the older loan, which was missold the same way. But I don't want to do that if they're going to pay up anyway.
Any advice?0 -
Hi there, it looks to me like, you did get the ppi back with interest .A&L would have given you proper redress as per FOS rules.
Do you think you did not get back what you should have?.

Hi there
You could ring or email them just to make sure on this, and explain you understand the letter you received dated XX/XX/XXXX was sent to you before the JR judgement date, and you would like to know if things have changed now.
However, they may yet take this to appeal and have until the 10th of May to decide to do so. Its quite possible it will go to appeal and case will therefore be held on to longer.
You do what you feel is right for you, but even the FOS are having issues despite when upholding complaints, the banks are not actually dealing with claims for the above reason as well.
I have 2 still help up with lloyds, I have emailed them to ask for an update since the verdict last week, I received an email this morning to state they are unable to provide me with a full response in regards of my complaints query since the outcome of last week but have promised to get back with one soon.
Good luck on either way you take your complaint.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
My case was on hold with RBS and since the judgement I have not heard from them. Should I now chase them?0

Hi, thanks very much for your reply. I thought at the time that receiving the ppi plus it's interest was all that was due but the articles that I've been reading the last few days seemed to suggest that the % rate of the loans were higher when ppi is required and therefore I was charged more for my loan by being forced to take out the ppi?
Regards,
Terrence.
Interest on a loan is sometimes applicable to you (credit check etc)
i dont think if you take ppi they put a higher interest rate on the loan.
I could be wrong but i hope if i am, someone will post to tell me so.0 -

Thanks very much. I have been doing all of my correspondance with RBS by paper-mail. Do you know if they have an e-mail address from which I can speak to them about my claim?0 -
