• Hello everyone,

Congratulations to those who've successfully reclaimed their PPI!

I'm a producer for the BBC News channel (aka News 24). We'd love to speak to one of you live on our programme at 5pm this afternoon about your success/failure in reclaiming PPI.

If you're interested, you could do the interview "down the line" from one of our local studios dotted around the country, or live in the studio at Television Centre in West London - we might be able to sort transport for you too if that helps.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in doing, please email me on henry.clarkeprice@bbc.co.uk (no obligation!)

Thanks,

Henry :)

What were you reclaiming: Mortgage PPI, sold to us by a Broker on a Single Premium basis.

Who was the provider: Mortgage Advice Services Limited - In Liquidation

How much did you get back: £3,374.00 (90% of the Premium plus interest)

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Straight through to the FSCS as provider in Liquidation. Filed in the Claim Form dealt with in 4 weeks by Deloittes (FSCS Claims Handlers) Would have been sooner had Mortgage company responded sooner to Deloittes.

Really easy to deal with and this site a great help. Took all of 2 hours of my time in total.

One thing to note, if I had used the Claims Management Company who brought this whole thing to my attention their total fee inc VAT would have been £1,012.20. I work for a Solicitors firm and considering it took 2 hours of my time, even top lawyers would not be entitled to those kind of fees.

Stay away from CMC's and do it yourself. Will gladly help anyone who needs it.

Well done and Congratulations!

So what is everyones view after the ruling today? I currently have a claim on hold with F Plus, since Nov 2010, am best off going to the FOS or wait to see if the banks appeal again and probably win like they did with the bank charges.
Any advice most welcome.

Hiya

The BBA have 21 days if they want to appeal, they will probably try to drag it out until then, and I think its a possible appeal in my opinion, they will give it a go, but lets hope not.
You do what you feel is best for you, I know its an awkward one, I have kept mine going with Lloyds and was thinking about moving on to the FOS by now, but since the first victory today, I may just see what happens on the appeal first.
Good luck and whatever you decide to do.;)

Hi all,

I'm wondering if I did the correct thing, I'm a bit confused about the latest information on the front page of the website here regarding the loan % rate and the included insurance. I actually reclaimed my ppi back in 2009 after the Alliance and Leicester wrote to inform me that because some ppi's had been misold they were liable to refund them. I was self employed at the time of taking out the loan and they wouldn't go ahead without the ppi agreement being made. It was a personal loan for £10,000 @ 5.6% apr with 36 monthly repayments of £301.96 plus the ppi of £308.98 @ 5.6% apr adding a further £9.33 a month. I wrote back to A+L to state that I was forced to take out the ppi and I didn't want or need it. I also asked for a copy of my loan agreement which they sent me. Subsequently they wrote back and offered to refund the ppi and ppi interest at a total of £377.31. I posted a message here on the forum for some advice on what to do and was advised that I should take the offer as there is nothing more to claim other than the ppi amount plus interest so I accepted the offer and received a cheque for the amount they stated.

Was I right to do this or is there more to it with regard to the total loan amount?

thanks,
Terrence.

Hi there, it looks to me like, you did get the ppi back with interest .A&L would have given you proper redress as per FOS rules.
Do you think you did not get back what you should have?.
