    Good morning everyone!

After success with getting my PPI back from Egg to the tune of £6500 3 weeks ago, I decided to chance my luck with my new found confidence and attack Barclays and Capitalone.

I sent my letters and info off to both 2 weeks ago, and this morning in the post, Barclays have upheld my complaint, and a refund o £6000 will be paid to me in the next 14 days. RESULT!!!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Capitalone also wrote this morning with the usual, we're looking into it letter. Hopefully this will be a success too.

Thanks once again to all of you for spurring me on to take on the banks. I am so happy, I could do a little dance in my PJ's. !!! A great start to my day off. :D

hi well done on your win i sent my egg complaint 2weeks ago and after 5 days received a letter confirming my complaint then 2 days later got another one telling us they had reveiwed it and can't give us response because of review did you get this one or did you get yours upheld at this point just trying to think of next move or leave it the 8 weeks as normal for response.

  • Finally got an FOS ruling by an Adjucator
Got a really nice lady call me ans say she has upheld my claim with First Direct but because of a JR FD are not accepting Adjudicators responses so I now have to be refered to an Ombudsman and to expect this to be about a year!
The lady was so nice and polite and I was a bit taken back by the upheld bit after nearly a year, I didnt really understand the rest.
Can anyone help? Will I be paid out, but just need to wait a year for a rubberstamp? Can I do anything to move things on?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there

First of all well done of having this upheld after all this time.

I know the JR issue is a right pain at the moment.
As many are in the same position, I would sit back now, but hopefully it will go in our favour when the JR decision is decided.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any-way we can move things on, but keep in touch with the FOS at monthly intervals perhaps for updates.

Good luck to you, please keep us posted, fingers crossed.;)

  • Hi,

Just thought I'd tell everyone my recent good news after following the advice on here for reclaiming PPI.

I took out a loan with Egg in 2003 and was pretty much bullied into taking out PPI which I didn't need. Using the template letter and form on here I wrote to them and received a letter back stating they would get back to me in 4 weeks. They wrote to me again 4 weeks later and said they were still looking into it and would write again in another 4 weeks. Sure enough last week I received a letter from them informing me that my complaint had been upheld and a cheque was attached for almost £4600! I was so, so happy! This is enough to pay off my current debts and put a deposit on a new car which I so desperately need!

    Thank you so much!

Now I'm pretty sure I had an even older loan with Egg that I don't have the paperwork for. Where can I find out about old credit agreements?

WOW, well done that is super news, Congratulations!

Depending on how long ago it is, you may be able to track down the account numbers of the loan by checking old banking statements.
For example if you paid the monthly loan repayments out of the bank your with now, and bank online, this may allow you to go back and check the loan account number which is generally shown next to the monthly repayment.

Or you could try by requesting for a copy of the agreement by writing a simple letter, enclose £1 cheque or postal order, ask them to provide you with a copy of the loan agreement by 12 days.

The only other way of getting old of your data would be to request for a SAR (Subject Access Request) where you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, they have 40 calendar days to comply.
There is a SAR template letter below link - tweak to your requirements if you want to.

However, please be aware though, just as long as you have the account number and you know you were sold ppi, you can still continue to make a reclaim.
Hope this helps and good luck.;)

I find the attic or garage to be particularly good places to look. Best of luck my friend!:j

I'm in almost the exact same position, Adjudicator found in my favour against First Direct, who rejected that and asked for final decision.

You'll probably find now you'll get a letter from you Adjudicator every couple of months just to show that they haven't forgotten about you. My Adjudicator actually wrote to me twice 2 weeks apart to tell me exactly the same thing. Bit of a waste of time and paper, but I appreciate the sentiment of being kept informed. :)

Three years ago I started a claim against GE Money for a mis sold PPI, using the templates dear Martin Lewis had provided on this site. The orginal loan was for £5,000 and the added insurance brought this up to £6145. I took out this loan in 2005 and had paid it off in 2007.

In 2008 after reading this site I decided to try and claim back the PPI. 18 months ago, after a lot of form filling this went to the Financial Ombudsman only to be told GE had sold this onto Central Capital. I then had to start all over again with the photocopyng of documents which I had fortunately kept. This once again went to the Financial Ombudsman who upheld my complaint. In December 2010 I was made and offer, with interest calculated up to 6th April 2011. Today the money was paid into my account and totalled £10,670.20:T

Not only did I the PPI back biut also the original loan amount and interest. :T

Dont give up, you may feel you are bashing your head against a wall, but it can be worth it in the end.

    Cheers Martin:beer:

Just out of curiosity do you know why they had to pay back the full loan as well as the PPI?
