pardon my ignorance, but i'm so very, very new to all of this.

have people had much luck claiming ppi back on mortgages? we bought our house in 2007--both completely new to the process and totally unaware of how it all works--and got a mortgage through northern rock. we used the financial advisor at the estate agents who were selling the house. we were told that we would only be approved for the mortgage if we took out payment protection insurance. we didn't know any better, so we did it.

now that i've found this site and have been able to educate myself a bit, i'd like to file a claim based on the fact that we were missold the ppi, but how do i prove that the financial advisor at the estate agents basically twisted our arms and made us buy it?

    Hiya

Yes its been known, but what I would do is post this below as a separate thread, so maybe Dunstonh could help you through this.
Subject it as something like "Mortgage PPI help required", this way your post will not be missed by the right ones who help on mortgage ppi.
Stay within the ppi reclaiming threads though, and the best of luck. ;)

I agree with "DEBSOM73" post, it does seem that movement is afoot, at the very least, with the Halifax. I also received a very similar letter of the same date, and they are paying me back £4641.00 in total. Sent off the acceptance form and now waiting for the cheque....!! By the way DEBSOM73, I know this is very elementary but did you turn over your acceptance letter, as my payout details were on the other side of the page.

    Hi monners,
I currently have 2 PPI claims with the Halifax that have been put on hold pending the outcome of Judicial Review. Just curious as to when you first started your claim? And did you ever get a letter from them to say yours was on hold because of JR?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Boycey01,

Started my claim with the Halifax around November last year, and yes I did get a letter saying 'my case is pended due to the JR', so was very surprised to receive the letter dated 8th April offering a settlement of all ppi paid, plus the interest paid on that, plus the mandatory 8%!! Just feel something must be moving as letters seem to be now going out. Maybe they (the banks) already know the outcome of the JR. :)

    Hi monners,

    Thanks for the quick response.
Well done and congratulations on your win! :j
I first started my claims in December last year so they should be getting to me soon (I hope!) And hopefully I will get some good news too! Fingers crossed. ;)

  • Welcome finance paid me out this morning! Well the FSCS did anyway.
Welcome were already investigating my claim when they went into default, i sent the FSCS questionnaire back last Monday, received a letter yesterday saying they were investigating and would be in touch within 30 days.
Checked my bank this morning and they've paid just short of 1900 into my account!
Havnt spoke to them yet, and had no idea this was going in, but am I ring in thinking the fscs has already paid the 1800 balance I had on the loan still?

Thanks for all your help :-)

I would contact the FSCS and ask, maybe a letter have been sent but not arrived, they may email the letter via attachment perhaps on request otherwise.;)

Something is defenetly going on at Halifax

we sent of our claim form of in November about being mis sold on a online loan

we did not want the ppi and were accepted for the loan but they then phoned us and told us that without the ppi the loan could not go through

We had received the usual letters about the complaint being on hold but today we recived a letter saying that have upheld are complaint and will be in touch with figures :j

Also that once the legal proceedings are over that if we are due further payment they will contact us :D
