PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

** SUCCESS **
Dear all,
In October 2008 I wrote to Lloyds TSB credit card services complaining that I had been mis-sold PPI for my credit card, and wished for a full refund on my premiums.
I informed them that I was missold the PPI policy, as it wasnt conveyed to me that PPI was optional, and it was immediately installed onto my account.
It wasnt until reading Martin's website, and reading the papers in 2008, that I did some research into my credit card, and realised that PPI was optional!!
So, letters to Lloyds went in, and they rejected my complaint, and stated that if I wasnt happy, to refer my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, which I duly did!
TWO YEARS later, I received a letter from the Financial Ombudsman (01/10/10) stating that Lloyds TSB were now offering a settlement figure of £2,800.
I didnt think my complaint would take this long, but my only advise to you is (1) get your complaint in ASAP (2) be prepared to wait - it will take some time - this is purely a tactical game from the banks to take as long as possible to evade paying out!
I stuck with it, and was determinned - that money was mine, and I wanted it back!0 -

I started the PPI reclaiming process in July 2010 after discovering that a personal loan I took out with an unnamed bank five years ago included PPI without my knowledge. Further, the bank cross sold me a special checking account claiming that I had to take it out in order to secure the loan.
I modified your letter a little and argued that I was unaware, self employed and taken advantage of by the bank.
In October I received £450 back from the mis-selling of the special checking account. This week the bank offered me £2100.00 for mis-selling PPI. It took two letters and five months, but the bank responded favourably to my complaint.
Thank you for your advice.
Well done and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Well done & thank you to everyone posting details of their success's - it gives hope to the rest of us who have ongoing claims.
Is it just me or does the momentum seem to be picking up again after the commencement of the JR by the BBA and the banks putting the brakes on in October?
Maybe they know the probable result and that it may well cost them more if they wait till after the JR findings are made PUBLIC - wishfull thinking on my part maybe but you never know.
