PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

woop de doo!
we made a claim on mortgage ppi mis-sold by AWD Carrington Carr and have just had an offer of over £8.5k! full refund plus interest.
All we did was use a template letter, the ombudsman form, and we received the offer within 3 weeks! We sent the letter direct to Legal and General; as it is their sister company, or a subdiary of
Fantastic :T Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thank you MSE!
I'd never have known this was possible if this site didn't exist, however, I followed your advice to make a claim against Barclaycard for missold PPI - the result was a refund of just over £5,300!
This pertained to two Barclaycards belonging to my partner, who was automatically signed up for PPI even though his freelance employment situation would preclude him from making a claim on it.
I sent off your forms and template letter to Barclaycard and it took a good six weeks or more to get an offer back, but they replied with a much higher offer on each card than we were expecting.
After signing and sending off the acceptance forms, it took another six weeks or more for them to pay - it took quite a few phone calls to get them to move it along. We did end up paying an extra £80-£100 interest on the card balances due to the delay in processing this and we will pursue that as well. I think there were definite delaying tactics there, so you do need to keep pushing them.
But we're beyond pleased with the result - we really needed the money! Without MSE, we wouldn't have had the first clue about any of this so, once again, a huge thank-you for all the work you do.
Also, I'd encourage anyone in a similar situation to give this a go - filling in the forms and posting them off barely took an hour of my time and look what the result was! There really is nothing to lose and everything to gain.0 -

Hiya, i am new to this forum but need some help, please.
As i wasn't aware that this site was helping people to reclaim PPI's i involved an outside company that worked on my behalf, and recently had a reply from them stating that i would be getting just over £300 back, which is great ! Though they also told me that their fee would be 25% of that !!
What i want to know and i know it sounds bad but is there any way i can get out of paying them because they didnt tell me how much it was going to cost me when i first discussed using their company ?0 -

I'm sure someone who have dealt with claims companies will know more of this, and will post up soon.
I understand they will charge on success, but hopefully somoene will be along soon who will know more on this actual matter, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I started the PPI reclaiming process in July 2010 after discovering that a personal loan I took out with an unnamed bank five years ago included PPI without my knowledge. Further, the bank cross sold me a special checking account claiming that I had to take it out in order to secure the loan.
I modified your letter a little and argued that I was unaware, self employed and taken advantage of by the bank.
In October I received £450 back from the mis-selling of the special checking account. This week the bank offered me £2100.00 for mis-selling PPI. It took two letters and five months, but the bank responded favourably to my complaint.
