PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi All,
I am currently going through PPI claims with a number of banks for previous loans and credit cards through a third party.
One bank I had a credit card with was Barclaycard Platinum, I didn't have the account number as I closed the account a few years ago.
I wrote a letter asking for my account number and for a subject access request with a breakdown of all of my addresses from 2003 onwards.
They wrote a letter back saying they couldn't help as there are no records of an account with the address provided which has left me stumped as I know 100% that I had a Barclaycard credit card and I know 100% (lol) where I have lived! :rotfl:
Has anyone else come across this and if so what did you do!?0 -

Hi and welcome
They are only obliged to keep copies of records/data going back the last 6 years, but if the accounts were settled within the last few years they will possibly still hold these details.
Have you still got the old cards?
Or have you checked for any old statements in your home, maybe in the loft somewhere perhaps?
May I ask though, is this account settled/paid off in full and can you remember what year, cheers. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all,
Just to let you know that after FOS upheld my parents complaint against Norton Finance they finally recieved their money back: £11,200
I've lost track of when they made the initial complaint to Norton but think it was 2008 so it's been a bit of long wait to get to this stage! Even after the ombudsman's final decision we still had to chase Norton on a daily basis, who kept telling us the delay was with their insurance company.
We are still currently awaiting a bit more money in terms of lost interest (FOS said interest should be paid up until when compensation is paid but due to the 3 month delay we are still owed that 3 months interest).
Thanks to everyone who offered advice and encouraged us to pursue the full amount rather than accept the initial offers from Norton (approx £2000 from memory). The money has enabled my parents to clear the majority of their debts thanks to a few f&f settlements that we negotiated, meaning that they will be able to start the new year without the burden of debt that they seem to have always had.
Great news ! Congratulations and well done for never giving up the fight. Wow 2 years !!! we are just over a year now with Norton, Complaint upheld by FOS but Norton still won't budge, therefore currently awaiting a Ombudsman decision.

Had a reply from tesco cc yesterday refusing my claim with evidance that I signed the form for the ppi, so may as well send it to the ombudsman as I'm sure I was missold the policy,
well finally received a letter from the ombudsman today advising that due to there involvement, tesco are now willing to make a offer of goodwill.
have no idea of the amount yet untill i recieve a letter from tesco themselves but another win for the consumer..!!!:Dsuccessful with all my ppi claims0 -

I contacted Welcome Finance yesterday after I received one of their offer letters. I waited over half an hour and spoke to someone who cut me off!!! Twenty minutes later I spoke with another member of staff who stated they had recieved my signed acceptance on 28th October and they processed my payment on 5th november. She stated it could take 10 working days to hit my account but when I checked my bank balance today It was in :j:j
I know others where wondering about times so mine went in 11 working days after they received my acceptance even though they quoted 30 working days although all my accounts are long closed with them.
Thanks everyone for their help two weeks ago I thought this was some kind of hoax now I am well on the road to becomming debt free:rotfl:0 -

A couple of years back I wrote to Northern Rock asking to cancel the PPI on a current loan as suggested by MSE. Northern Rock wrote back and told me I couldn't do it without taking out a new loan agreement which would have meant paying back more per month on a higher interest rate. Obviously, I declined and continued paying off the loan.
Last year I was lucky enough to pay off and close the loan. Then a couple of months back, after taking another look at the MSE web pages, I decided to complete the complaints form and send it to Northern Rock.
About 2 weeks ago I received a letter from them offering me just over £7,300!! :j
I'm still waiting for that money to hit my account (within 28 days) but a big thank you to MSE - if it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't have bothered doing anything about it! I'm now using your website to get the best deal on an ISA to try and make the most of my new found and quite unexpected bank balance!!
Thanks again! :T
