Just thought I would let you all know - Got a let

ter from Northern Rock yesterday with an offer for just short of £2500!:T
Full refund of all ppi premiums paid on a secured loan to date along with 8% interest.

Sent them my original complaint on 12/09/2010 using a pretty standard template from here modified to suit my case.
All I have heard from Northern Rock was an initial acknowledgement of my complaint & now their offer.
    Fantastic!
Thank you to all on here its a great source of information, help & inspiration.
I would not have even attempted this until I stumbled across this site looking for something else.

I have had a couple of knock backs recently (Amex & Lombard) and these are now with FOS and I was having my doubts but this result has given me renewed hope and I hope also others.

    :beer::beer:
    Savings target by December 2011:
    ISA: 5100
    Child trust fund: 1200
    Instant Access: 1400
    Credit Union: 300

I finally recieved a total of £2,312.63 from Halifax for my unsecured loan PPI mis sold in Sept 2007. They gave me a final letter in February 2010 and then i complained to the FOS. They took a little while to reply and then i got a telephone call from FOS to say that they have recommended that the insurance is taken off and a refund made to me along with 8% interest of the refund. This was then followed by a letter and new loan agreement from Halifax without the PPI. I was paying £210.00 with PPI ( balance now was £9,800.00 and the new loan repayment will be £166.00 without the PPI and with a new loan balance of £6,800.00 with the PPI taken off.

Thankyou so much for all your help here, i would have probably gone to one of these companies that charge 20% plus for the same result. I am really glad i did it myself (with your help of course) and are now telling others to check their loans aswell.
A BIG BIG THANKYOU ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

My wife took out a £10,000 loan 41/2 years ago with Alliance & Leicester. She already had an existing loan with them, so paid that off & had the balance sent to her. The girl on the phone implied that PPI was beneficial in obtaining the loan. They also didn't take into account the fact that even if my wife was ill or made redundant, we could have still made the repayments. The PPI policy was never really explained to her either.
We recieved a letter from A&L a while ago regarding the sale of the PPI but my wife wasn't quite sure whether her claim would be accepted so she didn't fill out the form. The wording on the form was not designed to have too many people reply, I don't think.

However, after recieving lots of calls from firms offering to reclaim the PPI on her behalf, I decided to look into it. I downloaded the initial form from this website, completed it with her & sent it off.
They replied within 10 days saying "Having considered the available information, we have not been able to establish whether you were provided with sufficient details to allow you to make an informed decision when this policy was taken out. We would like to offer £3184.14 as a refund, including interest, of all the premiums paid for the PPI element of the loan."

This letter was dated 18th October. The claim form was completed & sent off 2 days later. Today, my wife looked at her bank account & found that A&L have been true to their word & the money has been paid into her account.

Tomorrow, she's off to get a settlement figure from A&L for the remaining 6 months repayments & will clear the original debt!

Many thanks to all at MSE for your help, support & gritty determination. Another success for this community!

    Thank you all.:T
