PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
Who was the provider: lloyds tsb
How much did you get back: Not sure yet!
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS
Well, after writing my original letter to LLoyds reclaiming PPI on an old loan, then getting rejected, then taking my case to the FOS, then chasing endlessly, i finally received a letter fom the FOS last week confiriming that Lloyds have agreed to give me a full refund! :j
As yet im not sure how much it will be, but according to the FOS letter it should be the full amount plus any interest that would have been earnt at a rate of 8%. The original amount was £900 odd, and if its 8% interest per year i work it out to be about £1700!
Will have to wait and see what Lloyds say when they eventually write to me, but any amount is obviously good! One question that begs though is, if Lloyds agreed to refund it when the FOS got involved, why did they reject it when i wrote to them?? Its the same case with the same details so why did the FOS have to get involved??
Anyway, good times! Will update when i know the amount when LLoyds eventually tell me! I know they say they have up to 8 weeks to work out the refund, but in peoples experience how long does it usually take to get the letter, and then the refund?
Thanks everyone for their help with this! If it wasnt for this fantastic site i probably would never have looked into it, so thank you all! :money:They can't have what you haven't got can they? tell them that and if they say otherwise pretend to be an owl or something.0 -

I have now had an email from Claims Financial to say that they couldnt chase the FOS any further and that I would have to just sit it out. Three years now. I would love to know if anyone out there has had these kind of delaying tactics which seem so unfair that I am experiencing. I just simply dont know what to do. It was their mistake NOT mine and the FOS have found in my favour but still there is this dreadful delay. I have done everything within my power to get my £ back but I still cant get a result. Even writing to Lloyds head guy didnt get any results - they wrote back and said that someone would be in touch but noone has. If I didnt need the money so much I would have long let it go but I am pretty much up against the wall and although you guys out there (di3004) have been fantasically supportive I still cant get a result.
Surely to god three years is excessive to say the least - ????

Hiya
Hope your well, and so sorry that your still waiting, this is very frustrating for you isn't it?
They could do with more than a kick in the back-**** couldn't they?
Will keep checking your posts, keep strong honey and keep at them as well, I know you have already been doing this, but don't give up.;)
Wonder if the Ministry of justice (MOJ) would give them any pushes? just a suggestion, as i can understand that you feel very tired of all the chasing by now, but yes 3 years, that is absolutely pathetic!

Hi di3004. I have just gone onto MOJ website and sent an email briefly explaining my predicament. I will let you know if they reply. There must be others out there who have had this kind of terminal wait - no? - yes? If so please post a message and tell me what to do next!!!!

Hiya
Hope they will have some suggestions then.
Maybe it will be better to ring the MOJ if you don't hear anything by the end of the day.
With never going the claims company direction I am not aware of the timescales, but to be honest 3 years, that is extortionately way over.
Maybe someone will post up Mrs S who have dealt with them, good luck and good luck with the MOJ and the whole lot of them.

Thank you for the info.
LTSB are already looking into this and letters written for Barclays, Lombard, HFC and Tesco.
Will sit tight now and see what happens.
Hope to be posting my own great success story shortly.

I have an headache.....we had 2 loans in 2001.......and totally confused now, we had 2 separate ones, the one then we settled in 2002, but the account number is of that one settled in 2002.
I am pleased with the refund, but I don't want any comebacks either.......so not going to cash it in yet just in case, think its wise.
I still have 2 ongoing reclaims too.
Hubby said he will give them a ring as well tomorrow and ask for written plus verbal explanation of the calculations, to be on the safe side.;)
Hi Di,
I'm wondering whether this additional refund is to do with loans that were refinanced into a second one with Lloyds (the one of ours that has just received this additional sum was then refinanced into a second loan with them)...........you mention two loans from 2001/2002 - this one didn't happen to be refinanced, did it?
Just my musings - probably completely wrong

That's a good point, Liberty! The thing is though that I think every loan I've had has segued into another! Do you know of anyone who's had more than one payment back?0
-
Liberty lily, you could well be correct on this one. If they did not calculate the whole of the PPI that was payable and include that that was carried over in the settlement when refinancing a loan then this could well be the reason that LLoyds are doing this.0
