Hi all after reading about all the success stories here i decided to see if i could reclaim my PPI back from HFC bank, i was a bit uncertain if i would be successful as i had made a claim on it back in january 2005 but thought nothing ventured, nothing gained, well im pleased to say that today i hv received a letter from them stating that as a good will gesture they will pay back all my PPI less the amount that i had received for my claim, a total of over £1000 also including 8% interest, am now looking at other loans etc that i have had with different companies. just one question if someone could answer it for me, is there any time limit as to how far back you can claim.
Am so pleased that i found this site, thanks to everyone that posted on here couldnt hv done it without your help. :j
I am so glad to hear someone has been successful with HFC I was planning on sending in a claim to them & now i have read your post I will making sure the my letter gets sent by the end of the week & congratulations!0 -

4 Claims underway currently,
1 with MBNA for CC going back to 1993 for PPI, this looks like many thousands to me, any experience with MBNA going back this far?. Just received a second letter from them extending the date due to investigations, seems fine & within the 80 day limit, fingers crossed.
1 for Debenhams store card was GE now Santander, received a letter today giving a figure for premium paid & stating that interest will be calculated should a refund be applicable, how do I find out if a refund is applicable? no further details given.
As for the other 2 its very early days, but are with Capital one for CC & the other with Direct line for a loan thats fully repaid.
Any advice, comments on any of this will be very welcome & I'll keep you all informed of my success.
Thanks to MSE for the advice & all you guys out there for the great posts encouraging me to pursue these.0 -

Hi and welcome
I'm sure someone will post up of their own experiences of the companies your making a reclaim.
I would ask them to send you calculation breakdown in writing, they should supply them on request,
The best of luck, please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
- What were you reclaiming: PPI sold with my secure loan.
- Who was the provider: Barclays
- How much did you get back: Full amount
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ???? A letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
- The PPI of almost 14K was added to the loan amount to make it a whopping 70,000 yes 70K. I was paying in access of 130 per month +loan amount. I then started looking into the whole process and after reading many posts on the forum decided to claim back. The first thing i did was to cancel the PPI the chaps at Barclay's tried to convince me that i wont get much back and it wasn't going to make much difference also the fact that even though i would cancel the PPI payments would continue for the whole loan term Anyway i ignored their advice and cancelled the PPI. Next i used the template provided on the website and added all the additional details as to why i was misold the policy.
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH AS THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED OTHERWISE AND THANK YOU MR MARTIN !!!!

I took out Pesonnal loan where ppi was added with HSBC 6 years ago and the loan in still running. I used Martin's template and the questioner to complaint. They reply me in three weeks later that a Complaint Officer will investigate. Yesterday, they wrote to me again that the investigation is not yet complete and will notify me in the next 4 week.
Could some one advice me what they are up to.
Thank You
Joe

They are entitled to 8 weeks to give a decision, and it looks like they are keeping you updated and of when you should now hear of a decision.

Hi Joe,
I had exactly the same thing with HFC bank, i think that hsbc and hfc are all part of the same company, anyway i got the letter aking for another 4 weeks and then yesterday which was exactly 28 days from the date of there letter requesting more time i got an offer from them.
Dont give up, and good luck0 -
Quick question to the gurus here, is the compensatory 8% interest added to the full amount that you are owed or just on the payments that you have made towards paying off the premuim.. For example premuim is £509.50 and monthly installments paid were £18.53 (Premuim payments). Loan cleared early (june 2000) so only 11 payments were made.
Offer of settlement is Premuim £509.50
Interest on payments made £ 81.44
Total £590.94
So is the 8% on the £590.94 or the £203.83 (11 x £18.53) payments made
Cheers0
