Just wanted to let you know that Abbey/Santander are going to pay me £1,700 all for the cost of 2 stamps :j

Santander have actually (surprisingly) been the most helpful throughout and from start from finish it has taken less than a month. All the other loan providers I am persuing are all using stalling tactics (Egg and MBNA have been by far the worst).

Thank you to Di, Robbed, Amersall and all the other friendly people on this forum. I could not have done this without you.

I am going to go absolutely mental in Pizza Express tonight. Double dough balls for me ;)
WHOOPEE DOO :T:T:Twell done and glad to have been of help :D

MBNA wrote to me today to say that I ticked the 'yes' box on the online application and sent me a copy of it - all it was was a form that said yes next to PPC. They suggest I go to the FOS.

I never needed PPC as I was covered elsewhere but MBNA said in todays letter that it wasn't a problem that I had cover elsewhere as they would still have paid out! The point (which they are missing) is that because I had cover elsewhere why would I pay £44 per month for PPC for seven years!

I was made redundant in May, got a payout which meant I didn't need to work for one year but got a job nine weeks later so I paid off my MBNA card in full with some of the redundancy i.e. any cover was useless as this proof i sin the pudding situation proves.

I asked MBNA by phone and email to take this cover off my account. When I phoned in June to pay off the final balance and asked them to close my account I thought that was sorted but since then I have received two statements one £80 in credit as I somehow overpaid despite using their figures, and guess what? They still charged my PPC - twice even though I have zero balance and asked that the account be closed! The lady who wrote to me today, Gail (Vice President) said that my PPC had been cancelled on 12th August.

I phoned MBNA just now to ask for a refund of the last two PPC payments as I had paid the account off in full, requested that PPC be removed and the account closed but, get this, they can't do anything as on their system it say that the can't enter into any correspondence on PPC as the have exhauste theur investigation. Fleecing ********.

This is the same company who when I had a blance of £8,500 and phoned to pay off half the balance said 'oh and can see that you are on a ridiculously high interest rate. When they payment clears phone back and we will reduce it'. So I did, but was on hold for one hour at a time.

Meanwhile they actually increased their rate, so I was then paying a minimum payment of £200 pcm on £8,500 and then their minimum payment of £4,000 was still £200.

    What shall I do next?

    Enjoy your weekened.

Hi there, Take this to fos, mbna wont enter into anymore dialogue
with you so you are wasting your time. If you ring fos they will take your complaint over the phone and will send you a copy of this and one to mbna, stick with this as mbna are fobbing you off with this mis sell. Good luck with this and keep us posted x
  • Thanks Amersall.

I have had two successes with Egg already thanks to this wonderful site and knew MBNA would be difficult as that is how they are full stop.

I have another one with MINT which I am still waiting on. They are another company with whom I have asked numerously for PPI to be removed and have recently settled the balance but still they charge PPI.

I'll contact the FOS about MBNA.

All this has taught me is what Shakespeare said ''Neither a borrower nor a lender be''.

There were times when these companies put me on the brink, they really did.

I have a balance with MINT of £4,300 and have done for six years. In that six years they have had £12,000 from me and still I owe £4,300.

Anyway, enough of my doom and gloom. The fight continues...

I have had exactly the same reason from MBNA for rejecting my claim and also Capital One. All these companies seem to be taking at least eight weeks, then asking for more time, after which they seem to be rejecting anyway. Is anyone else finding this is happening to them too? Maybe I'm just feeling a bit down cos the campaign doesn't seem to be going well at the moment!

Hi all, just to let you know Barclays have just paid you for my partners PPI for £2500, so that over £5k in total !:) :):) it took just over a month for them to pay out with no arguing ! I'm now going to help my friend try to claim from Welcome, does anyone know if they are a problem ?
