Just to say I got an offer from my bank!! :)

I don't want to post too much, or say who the bank is, or celebrate until I have the cheque, but it's the full PPI back plus interest, so I'm really pleased. I'll post more when this is settled.

Thank you so much to the people on this forum for their help in drafting my letter and all your helpful tips. It's been really appreciated. :A

It's the usual "no admission of liability" letter, gesture of goodwill, etc.

I actually settled my loan a few months ago. In their letter, they say they are:

They have sent me a "declaration and acceptance" form to sign, which states that, if I sign it, I accept their goodwill offer on the basis that such an offer is accepted in full and final settlement of all or any claims I might have against them.

It says that if I sign it, I understand that the offer will take into account any arrears on the loan account. The remaining balance, if any, will then be paid to me by cheque. It says it's possible for my loan account to remain in arrears if the offer is not sufficient to clear the full amount owing on the loan.

As my loan account is paid and has nothing owing, I should be due the full amount they have offered, shouldn't I? :undecided

I rang them and while the person on the phone said they couldn't guarantee it would be that full figure quoted in the letter, without digging out the paperwork, he said the paragraph about arrears is a standard one and usually applies to people whose loans are still running. Mine isn't. So I should get the full amount quoted. I hope that's right.

I might put a covering letter in with the acceptance slip, to say I accept it only if it's the full amount. What do you think? I did send this to the Ombudsman as well several months ago, but as the bank have offered to pay in full, I'm planning to withdraw my complaint and accept the offer - if it's the full amount.

Sorry, I'm probably worrying over nothing. It's just so close to being resolved now, and I don't want anything to spoil this nice feeling! :rotfl:

    Thanks again all. :T

Got letter from FOS for dh RBS loan and CC saying that Rbs had agreed to full refund and interest. Had originally offered me £750 comp on loan and £2000 part payment on credit card which rejected. Original PPI on loan was single premium of £4500. Will post up figures when receive from RBS. But that is all his accounts settled. Received cheque for over a £1000 from Hsbc. Received cheque for over £3400 from Bank Scotland. Have already received a settlement from RBS for loan of over £3300 which went towards debt last year. All for price around 6 first class stamps in total. Not bad.
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.
