i just claimed back ppi on behalf of my sister with 1 form and only 2 weeks wait and the loan she took out was in 2002.....she awaiting a cheque for approx £900. Myself however had 3 loans from citi with ppi from 2001-2006. The 2006 one they have paid out on but are refusing the other 2 with the more costly ppi, they say because they have no details of the account. I told them i had credit aggreements ( which i got a few months ago from a SAR letter), i was asked to send copies of the aggreements and they may re-open my case, which i did. After hearing nothing i rang them and they said that they had already given me their final response and were not pursuing it further ( apparently i should not have been told to send in credit aggreements). So i have now complained to the FOS. I find it odd that my sister and i took our loans out aound the same time and they have paid out hers ( but she did only have 1 loan with them) and wonder if it is because i re-financed mine because they told me they could not see payment history, or if i had ever claimed on the insurance, or if any rebate had been given already that they were taking my case no further. Question is are the FOS likely to get any more joy than me or is it likely that i wont get the ppi back on these 2 loans......your advice appreciated.

    Hi there

Glad you have taken it further with the FOS, they will sort this out for you.
Even if they did give a rebate, this would have been used to reduce the first loan for refinancing, where you would still have the remaining of the ppi to come back, plus interest etc.
As they would not have rebated the whole lot of the ppi back when refinancing.

So this should not be a reason for them to reject your complaint, make sure you tell the FOS everything.
    Good luck.;)

    Hi there

Did they enclose details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) in that letter?

I would ring them and ask them if they are dealing with your 2nd letter, if not think about complaining to the FOS.

Hope you hear some good news soon though, good luck.;)

Thankyou had to ring them to prompt them into receiving their first letter, will ring them tomorrow. They mentioned they enclose a leaflet in their letter about FOS however failed to actually send it!!
  • Good luck to all on these pages and well done those who have succeeded!

I, too, am wrestling with Lloyds TSB at present. Two loans, both with PPI which I am now disputing. Whilst I have had no decision from Lloyds as yet, I decided to cancel the PPIs. Both loans have been running for about 2/7 years and for c.£15k They were happy to renew loans without PPI but, because I am cancelling PPI early it is going to cost me over £6000 extra on two loans. This is something else that was not explained to me when I took out loans. So, the question is should I take out the new loan, in case claim fails, or should I wait and see......??!! The guy who I spoke to made it as difficult as possible to understand and flatly refused to give me the figures in writing, saying it was not 'customer specific'.

Also, when I first spoke to them re cancelling PPIs they had to do two credit checks before offering new loans. Do frequent credit checks affect my credit rating in any way?

    Many thanks for all comments.

No !!! dont cancel, wait for the outcome of your claim otherwise you will be out of pocket and with a loan for extra months with interest. If they have done 2 credit checks these will show on your credit file.give fos a ring and tell them they did the credit checks so that you could "reloan" just to cancek ppi and tell them that you were not told initially that they would do these checks.

    Success! Finally from Loans.co.uk.

Long 6 weeks wait waiting for settlement figureas, well recieved letter today offering figure of £2656.29, includes refund of PPI plus interest paid on premium £376.09 and 8% 180.20. The 8% seems low? how do they work it out?

Im happy with refund, just A&L gave me more and that policy was less?

    Congratulations! Well done!
Can I ask how long the whole process took from start to finish? I'm trying to get money back from Loans.co.uk as well.
    Thanks, Clare

  • Hi all!

Success with LTSB - I'll be receiving around £1700.

As much as this pleases me, I'm also suspicious. In the letter stating the refund amount, they say it will be paid into my current account ... but in the summary further down it says "Please allow 21 days for your loan account to fully reflect these payments"

Hmmm ... does this mean I'm not going to see a penny of the money they robbed from me? Will it all go to reduce the loan balance? At the very least I would like the 8% interest paid to me personally.
