No !!! dont cancel, wait for the outcome of your claim otherwise you will be out of pocket and with a loan for extra months with interest. If they have done 2 credit checks these will show on your credit file.give fos a ring and tell them they did the credit checks so that you could "reloan" just to cancek ppi and tell them that you were not told initially that they would do these checks.

Hi Amersall, many thanks for your advice. One other question, Lloyds were hugely obstructive and rude when I called. I would like to write to the CEO to complain about his employees and the Banks attitude in general! Do you think an email to the CEO is sufficient? Or should I write? And to what address. Or should I wait until they have settled all my claims??

    Thanks for any advice

Hi there, yes email the ceo there is no need for for behaviour like that.

    Hi all!

Success with LTSB - I'll be receiving around £1700.

As much as this pleases me, I'm also suspicious. In the letter stating the refund amount, they say it will be paid into my current account ... but in the summary further down it says "Please allow 21 days for your loan account to fully reflect these payments"

Hmmm ... does this mean I'm not going to see a penny of the money they robbed from me? Will it all go to reduce the loan balance? At the very least I would like the 8% interest paid to me personally.
:j:j:j well done to you :beer: I think this means your loan will show the ppi taken off (make sure they take it off and the loan reset if it is still running, your monthly payment should go down too) and the refund into your current account. If i were you i would ring them and confirm this. Once again congrats:cool:

    Hi there

First of all well done and Congratulations on your success :T:beer::j, it sounds like they want to pay it to your bank account, so therefore it goes to you.

I take it you've no arrears?

If this is the case, then your required to have the refund and interest refunded directly to you, but I do think they mean the current acount you have and not the loan account, you could still check with them by emailing the contacts below, remember to enclose your ref claim number to them as well.;)

    Hi John

You have every right to complain to the CEO on this matter, but maybe see what happens first if you want to, however whilst your waiting for your claims to settle, this should not stop you, in fact it may change their attitudes a little.
    Good luck.

Just to say I got an offer from my bank!! :)

I don't want to post too much, or say who the bank is, or celebrate until I have the cheque, but it's the full PPI back plus interest, so I'm really pleased. I'll post more when this is settled.

Thank you so much to the people on this forum for their help in drafting my letter and all your helpful tips. It's been really appreciated. :A

It's the usual "no admission of liability" letter, gesture of goodwill, etc.

I actually settled my loan a few months ago. In their letter, they say they are:
"prepared to refund the insurance premiums and interest that you have paid to [date I paid off the loan]. This excludes the amount automatically credited to your loan account of [£few hundred pounds] when the policy was cancelled. Our calculations show you have paid a total of £[thousands] for the PPI element of your loan."

They have sent me a "declaration and acceptance" form to sign, which states that, if I sign it, I accept their goodwill offer on the basis that such an offer is accepted in full and final settlement of all or any claims I might have against them.

It says that if I sign it, I understand that the offer will take into account any arrears on the loan account. The remaining balance, if any, will then be paid to me by cheque. It says it's possible for my loan account to remain in arrears if the offer is not sufficient to clear the full amount owing on the loan.

As my loan account is paid and has nothing owing, I should be due the full amount they have offered, shouldn't I? :undecided

I rang them and while the person on the phone said they couldn't guarantee it would be that full figure quoted in the letter, without digging out the paperwork, he said the paragraph about arrears is a standard one and usually applies to people whose loans are still running. Mine isn't. So I should get the full amount quoted. I hope that's right.

I might put a covering letter in with the acceptance slip, to say I accept it only if it's the full amount. What do you think? I did send this to the Ombudsman as well several months ago, but as the bank have offered to pay in full, I'm planning to withdraw my complaint and accept the offer - if it's the full amount.

Sorry, I'm probably worrying over nothing. It's just so close to being resolved now, and I don't want anything to spoil this nice feeling! :rotfl:

    Thanks again all. :T
