Dazzarazza wrote: »Hi Jon, I too am fighting egg on PPi from 2007 an inyernet application. My reasons are
A) they have already been fined for missellingThey never informed me that options were available other than their own PPI.
C) wording used implied that it was part of the process, although I only have my covering letter as proof of this and no screen shots from the site.
The letter reads..
What to send back to us
1. sign and date the copy of the loan agreement with the red corner
Next, to protect your payments, make sure you tick the box where it says I wish to purchase loan protection
- Finally, sign again to make sure your repayments are protected
Now in my eyes this could be read as them telling me this is a step that needs to be taken to complete the loan application.
Like I say i am not sure if this is what it said online, however as it had been done online I am going to take the stance that I read this and thought that as it was done i had completed an important part already that they required to apply
Have you had a letter back from EGG yet? i have only sent mine today, but after i had my loan originally online, i rang up a year later and topped it up, i did this over the phone in 2005, now when i checked my loan online it says it started from the date i topped it up, so im going with the stance that i had the loan over the phone. They were pushing for me to take the PPI, even though my company pays me when on the sick for up to a whole year, and is very secure.
i definately think i was miss-sold it, and pressured into doing it, ive never really got around to doing this, but enough is enough i want my money back!:T0 -
Hi all ,
Just received notification from RBS that they are unable to uphold my concerns , re: credit card ppi.
The main points seem to be , that I signed the CC application having ticked the box indicating I required the cover. The policy document was provided to confirm that I had applied.
In relation to my specific complaint , which was the suitability of the cover ( I would continue to be paid by my employer , in the event of injury or illness). They inform that the policy was prvided on a 'non-advice' basis and that as I had ticked the box (payment protection) in my postal application , I had made an informed choice.
They have sent out a copy of my application , clearly signed by myself. The remainder of the form , personal information and tick boxes is clearly not my hand .
I guess , I am asking - how to proceed , if at all ?:(0 -

Hi there
I agree with amersall.
And not only that, this is a bog standard response.
If you were already protected by your employer, then why on earth would you want to pay out further for something you did not require, due to already be protected.
Even on a non advised sale, they still had a responsibility to make sure you required this or not, and given you the opportunity to say yes or not.
So was it hand ticked?
Again it may not have been yours, with one of mine, I signed my agreement and the bank added a cross or tick on the ppi afterwards, then I used to assume the PPI was all part of the finance.
You need to keep on at them, follow the next procedure, if they do not resolve in your favour by the final decision, then complain to the FOS, good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

On the copy of the application which they have sent out with their findings , only my signature is in my own hand.
They are saying it was a postal application , if that was so , then the completed form would be all my own work ?
I honestly cant remember if it was a postal app or a form filled in at the local branch .
We are talking 10 yrs , here.
I intend to write back to them , asking them to reconsider , highlighting the inconsistencies as I see them .0 -

I can understand its difficult to remember applications as from 10 years ago, but they must obviously still hold details of your account on file then - for them to have give you this information on their findings.
You could (optional) request for a Subject access request (SAR), they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they hold on you, at least going back the last 6 years, but again, they do seem to still have the details from what they are saying from the start of the application.
For this request, you enclose a £10 cheque or postal order, and there is a letter template for this on link below here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
If they come back and say they do not hold these details, then it would be strange how they had it on hand when you wrote to them.
But yes, defo keep on at them.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Having procrastinated ages about claiming back PPI, I wrote to Barclays Select. I didn't use the template letter- I wrote my own-
BUT
I received £12,500 back- all the payments I had ever made (going back 10 years), interest accrued as well as 8% interest as compensation.
I wrote the letter, send by recorded delivery and then received a letter back within 7 weeks stating the decision, there was no blocking letters or anything...
Now getting on with writing a letter to FirstPlus (who missold the PPI even more clearly!!)
Thanks for helping! :j0 -

Take a look at this website and have your eyes well and truly opened about fp
firstpluscomplaints.co.uk
was your loan done through a broker or just fp? if it was done through a broker you need to put a claim in with them as well, as fp will tell you it is nothing to do with them.Forewarned is forearmed0 -

Hi Rollover,
I am in an identical fight with RBS and have ended up waiting on a FOS adjudicator. The bank stumbled and stalled before eventually sending me a final response.I suggest to save time you register your complaint with the FOS as well as persuing the Bank, you can inform them you have already contacted the FOS.This may even help spur them on.Good Luck I will keep you informed of any progress or developments I have .Dont let them fob you off!0
