PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Think I have a successful claim on one of my cards, although the wording is a bit ambiguous....they don't give an amount just state "the refund will consist of the premium paid plus where appropriate any interest incurred and simple interest where applicable". I'm a little confused if they are including any PPI they took off me prior to the records I have kept (early 2001), or just the photocopied records I sent them from '01 to '05...
Also a bit confused if they will be paying interest on the interest. Either way I have to sign the acceptance slip yet, and I am not sure yet if they have agreed with my claim for the major one. Considering I never asked for it, nor would I have been able to claim for it I can't see them not responding in my favour.
All so confusing...just can't wait to see the money in my account!0 -
theflowerpotman wrote: »Again thanks lickoloctupus and SDW. I will expand my query (and fears!) and hope you can comment more. Basically, two loans, both around £15k taken with LloydsTSB in 2008. Huge PPI payments each month >>£120. Loan arranged face to face, agreed PPI but it was not explained at all. I am self-employed. No mention was made that I might be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. It was inferred that it was a good product to take out. Was assured that all was fine and Terms and Conditions were not read. Obviously I am at fault here but still feel was miss sold.
Two credit cards, Barclays and LloydsTSB both taken out within last 5 years. Both have PPI but have no recollection of reading, or signing, anything concerning this. With Lloyds card I was, then, employed with six months full salary if off sick. When I took out loans my Lloyds account was 'upgraded' to a Premier account. As was credit card. Manager fully aware I was now self-employed but did not comment on this.
Do you think I have a claim in all 4 cases?
Many many thanks for any help/comments given
Just dont give in....
I had a barclaycard that I had ppi insurance on between 2002 and 2004 and cancelled the ppi in 2004 and cleared the card in 2006 via a final settlement figure which was approx 1500 less than the amount owing.
I claimed via MSE using the templates and links and was told that my claim was too old. I kept on at them for 8 weeks writing 3 times and eventually they told me that I had been miss sold the PPI but they couldnt give me any money back. At this point I phoned them every other day asking them to review my case and eventually they relented after 3 telephone calls and my ppi they could work out was £212 but due to compound interest they paid £971.
my main miss selling point was that I had not been told it was optional.
So I would say just don't take know for an answer and the more you harrass them the quicker they cave in.0 -
Hi there and well done on your win.i would think you will get ppi plus the interest on that then 8%?, i dont think credit cards are worked out the same as a loan (someone will know more about this on here i am sure) most now dont give figures, you just sign and they will give the workings out and what you will get, then you may have an idea when they are paying you from. If you post on here someone will maybe help you more with figures, if you disagree with the amounts then i think you can ask fos to take a look, you signed for something you had no figures for so they will be able to help.As for the major one they should let you know seperately concerning this one.Hope this helps
Thanks amersall, that's eased my mind a little. Without the interest (just on the PPI payments alone on this card), we are looking at £345 from March 2001 to August 2005. I don't have records from before March 2001 (I must have lost them when we moved last year), so I have no idea if they applied PPI to either of the cards before this time, but I suspect they did. Do you think they have records on this somewhere, since they didn't supply me with info on this when I did a SAR? They supplied an A395 which gave the date when I cancelled the PPI ( the month I found out about it - I really should have paid attention to the statements), but had no actual numbers. I supplied them with copies of my statements from March 01 to Aug 05 and highlighted the PPI's on each statement.
Do you think they will only pay this or do you think they will have a more detailed account of payments somewhere??
For the other one the PPI is £790 - totals £1135!!
I really should have been paying attention to the statements but part of the problem was I was studying, studying abroad and abroad after studying, and during my second year I had to use my cards when there was a problem with the bank freezing my account that had my grant and loan payment in it. It started with paying for food and rent to survive and just snowballed from that.
My dad said he would help me out by paying the cards (if but just the minimums). I would calculate out how much I had left on the cards not realising they were charging PPI (since I hadn't actually looked at the statements and my dad just told me what the limit was and what was in the account). A couple of times the cards incurred overlimit fees, primarily I feel because I was unaware of the PPI being charged.
I know I was a bit of an idiot but at the time I had no other way to pay for things at times...and I guess I started to not look at it as "their money" but "my credit".
Ah but I am rambling, and hopefully in control of my finances better.
Can anyone help with the number crunching?Total debt at lightbulb moment (Jan 2010): £23410

Hi. i am not sure how far they go back with cc , robbedofmymoney is very good with number crunching and may be able to help with this .
Also there are a few others, marshalka is very good but she hasnt been on here for a while. You should get interest returned on this ppi as well, as i said before i am not sure about the 8% but it may apply. good luck with this, and hope fully someone will come on to maybe help you with more info. x0 -

Having been successful in my claim against loans.co.uk I was wondering if there are any ways of repairing your credit report. Due to paying £10k over the original loan amount I was left a bit short and have missed a couple of payments in the last six months.0

Another good point is on an old statements I have from Barclaycard it does say payment protection, on more recent statements it says optional payment protection. This does suggest it was not optional until recently.
