Need some advice, Bought a car from welcome finance in 2006 and wass told would not get finance unloess I took out PPI and even if I did they would increase finance so would cost me the same anyway. Once tried to claim through my local branch but was told couldn't. Got an unsecured loan from them last year, when I spoke to the salesman on the phone I asked him to take into account that although the car was in my name, my boyfriend paid it and when I went to branch to get the loan, somebody was being signed off on that part of their training and was told I was not accepted for the loan as I had too much going out through the car, initial salesperson called me the next week apologising and said if I come in I could have the loan. He did not mention payment protection. Then stumbled upon this site and realised I was mis sold initial policy and realised my new loan also had PPI. Cut a long story short! Have used template letter regarding car PPI, and their final response is it has not reasonable prospect of success. Am now awaiting forms from FOS. Has anybody else been through this already, I'm not sure what I should do about my loan, certainly not the most responsible lenders but then I took it.

Please tell us which sticks these are as I'm in the same position as daynurse - though she is a little further along than I.

Mind you out of interest daynurse, Worst Plus told me that only £1600 odd had to be paid into my loan, the other £4000 odd could be paid straight to me....

WHAT CHANGED YOUR MIND TO ACCEPT?
    Basically i bottled it!!!
To be honest they hadn't even given me a date i had to accept by, but i was just worried i would lose the lot so i gave up the fight!( ...hubby all smiles now!)
I also rang the FOS again & the bloke sounded so weary & depressed at the mention of firstplus that i figured it may be a long & tedious battle!!
I'm going to pay off my credit cards & have a weekend in Poland to visit some relatives!:j
Hope the rest of you can get what you deserve out of them & i will follow your battles with interest.;)
  • :D got 1st reply from ge money today and they have made me an offer

Its a cr**p offer though:cool: the original ppi single payment that i made was £4050 in April 2005 it was for 5 years and doesn't run out till April 2010 but i paid off the associated loan in April 2007 so by my estimation i should be entitled to at least 3 years premiums and interest !! and what have ge money offered me ........£810.00

Can someone please advise me am i being naive expecting more should i just take what they are offering
 hoping to be debt free before i have grandchildren!!!!

successfully reclaimed bank charges from halifax and abbey thanks to martins tips:T

I have nothing to loose they say they are not willing to pay me direct therefore hyperthetically i wouldnt see the said refund I am not happy with that and I think they have tried to bully me by saying take this offer subject to me not complaining any further well its out of my hands now but i wish somebody with a bit of influence could show how this company operate my personal opinion is they offer everyone a 78% rebate to reel them in and it appears to work at least you have your money back and in your own pocket instead of theres I hope you enjoy it I dont know if anyone else has took the FOS route would be interested to see keep smiling had a different offer part off loan part to them direct so it seems to be how they feel at the time
if they win on the misselling side I know I have tried my best may be it will give them a warning that The general public are not going to put up with it The guy at the FOS was probably fed up of all the complaint coming in regarding first plus!!!!!
  • Has enyone ever won a case against barclays?

Also He Has Always Been Self Employed We Have No Record Of The Terms And Conditions At The Start Of His Borrowing And He Does Not Remember How He Was Sold The Card. Do We Ask The Bank For The Original Terms And Conditions?
