    Hi all,

Well, First Plus have replied by email and have now said that they have finally found the tapes that I requested and that they will send me them with a complete response to my complaint as soon as they can be retrieved from their I.T. department!!! (but before the end of the week) How long is this thing going to drag on??????

I'm waiting for call information from them too. They offered to email them with PGP encryption or post them with no encryption so anyone could listen to them (if they got hold of them). I decided that email would be quicker and make them work a little harder so I said that the ecryption was fine - then promptly downloaded the trial version! There was no way I was going to wait for them to post them to me and make more excuses for why it hadn't been done yet! :rotfl:
  • Hi

Posted earlier about DFS wanting me to sign a new agreement get back all my money, then pay off the bill minus the ppi after 6 months or let it all run again for another 2 years sounded really dodgy hence the post earlier... anyway I phoned Blackhorse and only had one payment left on the account so paid it, agreement is now settled, even the guy at the bank thought it sounded dodgy and told me not to sign another agreement, yes I am telling everyone lol even the bloke who came to check my boiler yesterday...

anyway I spoke to a really nice man at the FSA explained everything to him and he said sounds like a right scam lol he said they should be writing to people not calling them and saying yes you can have your money back just come and sign another agreement for a couple of years... he said its possible they get a commision from say blackhorse for every supposed sale...and if they are re-writing agreements their figures must look great !!!!

What a rip off they are making money out of giving people back their PPI payments.... as the guy from my store had today off ha ha will be giving him a nice call in the morning.... then head office I'm on a roll now....

Hi there I realise this has probably been asked before, but how far back can I claim? Is it 6 years like the bank charges, or can I go back to the start of the loan? Also, as I have already claimed around £2500 of bank charges with them, would they threaten to close my accounts? I'm with HSBC. Many thanks.

    Can anyone help?
  • I received a letter from First Plus today and I need some advice please. As I mentioned earlier I had requested copies of our calls. I haven't received these yet but have received this letter in the meantime. They are happy that all is okay with the loan and are not admitting liability in any way, however as a goodwill gesture they are offering me (yes you've guessed it!) a pro rate rebate of 78% of the premium. This "enhanced rebate" works out at £4572.78 plus £1625.88 that will be applied to my loan on cancellation of the policy.

    Now onto the questions:
The total PPI taken out was £14449.10 and the policy was confirmed at the end of October 2005. I think that means I have made 27 or 28 payments of £121.85 per month - though it says variable where interest rate changes next to the loan amount so does that apply to PPI too?

How do they calculate the 78%?

Will they now remove the £121.85 payment from my monthly payment?

Is this a bad deal and should I carry on fighting or is it not that bad? I guess I need to work out the figures but I could do with some help with this.

    THANKS in advance!

well guys first plus say they upholdi there decision regarding misselling not even going to answer the questions i have asked a letter in the post to say how they broke down the 78% and 22% thats it!! so it looks like the ombudsman for me my only concern is the enhanced rebate offerred had a date of 28 feb to accept if i dont, i dont know if they can withdraw the offer then I may be left with nothing??they also informed me the 1st rebate amount has been deducted off the loan and reduced my payment by £9.00
im b***** livid they didnt even ask me so any advice would be greatly appreciated

it doesnt equate to 78% firstplus tried to explain it to me today it depends on how many years paid and how many years left on policy the figures are supposedly in the post ive come to the conclusion these are standard run of the mill letters and they probably think people will accept because they are offerring theym more money!!!it makes me so mad how on earth do they get away with it and NO THE 121,85 STAYS ON YOUR LOAN TILL THE END OF YOUR AGREEMENT - LIFE OF THE LOAN

Hi, when i received the final offer they didnt include a phone number & it was a different 'complaint executive' dealing with it at this time( third one!) so i used a number on one of my previous letters.
Anyway, it's all irrelevant now as i have posted the acceptance form (recorded delivery,of course!) & just waiting to see how long before the cheque makes an appearance! Good luck to all others still in the process of claiming & remember, DONT LET THE B******S GRIND YOU DOWN! :p Its YOUR money....... Keep at 'em!:j
WHAT CHANGED YOUR MIND TO ACCEPT?

Depends upon your case and circumstances.

just competed the forms for the FOS when i rang them earlier they said that the unfair rebate and the misselling are two seperate issues therefore i can accept the rebate offer but still pursue the misselling the rebate offer has to be accepted by the 28th and i have a feeling it can be withdrawn after the date bit unsure what to do with regards the rebate however i will go the whole hog with the misselling i have nothing to loose
  • ..Though Not Yet I recently sent Martin’ pre-ordained PPI template letter to Tesco Personal Finance as regards a current loan taken out in 2005 for £25000 @ 6.5% for 7yrs.The loan a agreement stipulated £373.11/mth for borrowed amount and a whooping £67.23/mth for ‘PPI’. The letter was solely on grounds of miss-sale by sales personel but with a little addendum ‘that I have been paying for insurance that at best is not applicable to my circumstances and at worst grossly inflated for intended purpose’.
Within 4 working days I got back a carefully worded reply which firstly apologised that I felt I was mis-sold to. Then swiftly proceeded to ‘clarify their position’ that the decision to opt for PPI is solely mine. The unscrupulous sale tactic that influenced that decision is the discord at hand here amongst other issues.
I am seek to reclaim the PPI payments (27mths to date) + my duely court imposed interest of 8% in its entirety based on these points. Firstly because of their tactics towards customers where information is not clearly rendered especially when a preferred outcome and only that is acceptable when selling to the general public. Secondly where the cost of product PPI is grossly and blatantly inflated in comparison to the industry for same product.

I hope you remember, I finally got those twerps from Tesco Personal Finance to admit and reappraise my repayment to £373.11 which effectively ends the £67.23 extortionate PPI. But I only hope they don’t think that will be all without addressing the issue of misrepresentation and subsequent refund which was £1815.21 (27months) as at nullification.
It’s true you have to fight for every inch with these cloak‘n’dagger merchants. So it seems the only other way is the ombudsman avenue.[/FONT]
