Travelex Supercard

I am aware of timing out problem from Travelex as one problem in getting cash from foreign ATMs using Travelex Supercard as they using two stage process e.g. first with Visa/Master and then to your link accounts. This has alson been clearly stated in the supercard website.
Just wonder for those who said the Supercard does not work in one particular cash machine but work on other cash machines.
Have you tried other UK cards other than Travellex try to withdraw cash on the same machine and it works?
Have you checked that the cash machines you were using could process trasaction using VISA/MASTER (CIRRUS ?) Are you sure that you see the Master / Visa logo (or Cirrus ??) on the ATM before you withdrew the cash??
If you have not done so then it is fully absurd to say that the Supercard does not work.
The previous reports who stated that it did not work have not confirmed this, so it is inclusive.
Some local cash machines, I know a few cases in Asia (or other countries as well ??) do not use Master / Visa for payment processing. These local machines, although available in the public places, shopping centers, etc are only intended for local people banking in their own group of banks. If you are using one of these ATMs it will definitely not work with UK cards, other countries creditcards which will include Supercard.
Also it is an absolute common sense to take a back up card with you, irrespectively which card you are taking with you.0 -
I've decided to apply for a Halifax Clarity in addition to holding the Supercard. I'm going on a 6 week holiday soon and my confidence in the Supercard isn't great after some of these comments (particularly as part of my trip will be in NZ).
One of the reason for getting the Supercard was to earn cashback or points but being as Capital One scrapped cashback and Tescos are about to all but scrap points I might just as well use the Clarity.0 -
Hi, I'm currently in Portugal and have used my Supercard in both a supermarket and cash machine without a problem. I've linked it to my Halifax Clarity card so I can get cash out on that card (which would obviously normally incur a fee) and I got the same rate (1.367) using the Clarity card and the Supercard (cash and in supermarket) on the same day. Pretty neat. Its a great back up up to my Clarity card and a cheap way of getting cash on a credit card.

Plenty of rejections on a Stena Line ferry due to the slow terminals. Worked but often had to try again.
More rejections in Amsterdam. Worked in some places but not in others.
Worked so far in Buenos Aires. Time will tell how well goes from here on.0 -
My Clarity card arrived yesterday so that will be my main card for spending abroad. Despite the potential issues with using the Supercard in ATMs I'm planning to us that to withdraw cash.
I thought that the Clarity card would have the word emblazoned across it but it just says 'Halifax' but I've spoken to them and it's definitely a Clarity. Being as it's a contactless card it has that advantage over the Supercard too. With any luck I'll be able to use it on public transport instead of buying a ticket (I might be pushing my luck with that though)0 -
Supercard tell me they are looking into updating the app to show declined transactions rather than just showing all transactions as going through.
Incidentally, did anyone else get an invite to fill out their survey? The more of us that state that the time out and refund procedure need to the improve the more likely it will be fixed for the 'proper' release.0 -
Yes filled that in and mentioned the failed transactions showing0

The Supercard app has been updated and is more user-friendly. Amongst other things, there are links on the page after log-in showing savings over the last 90 days and the cards currently linked.
There's an interesting FAQ section, explaining amongst other things why some transactions take a while to show in individuals' credit/debit card accounts.
I had previously assumed that the card acts as a debit card, hence the difficulties at some car rental and fuel outlets. For the first time AFAIK, this is confirmed in the FAQs.
If your apps don't update automatically, it's worth updating the Supercard app.0 -
I'm not sure how they calculate the "Saved" figure ... especially as my linked card is Halifax Clarity, so nothing saved!0

Compared with a linked Clarity, there are unlikely to be any savings on purchases, just on cash. And cash is hardly expensive on the Clarity card anyway.
If you link a points/miles/cashback card, you'd probably see benefits.0
