  • To add my five pennies worth...

Firstly V.sorry for those that are experiencing problems/losses with the S/Card.

I saw Martins article on MSE whilst travelling in Japan. I had previously been using the clarity card for ATM cash withdrawals and paying the balance off as soon as the ATM Cash withdrawal registered on my online account. I applied immediately from Japan, fortunately getting accepted. The card was delivered to my UK address and I arranged to get it sent to Japan. Since receiving the card and linking my current account to it I have successfully used it three times in Japan and three times in South Korea. The exchange rate has been slightly better or only a few pennies in it with what the clarity card would have given me.

    Have fun

    Anthony :j

Indian call centre - "someone will phone you within 48hrs" shock horror nobody did - phoned again today - your case has been passed to our Head Office and i'll arrange for someone to phone you - usual story, nobody phoned back, supervisor not available, dreadful.

The feeling of Deja Vu overwhelms me. ;)

Travelex or sorry Tuxedo Money Solutions?!

It makes no difference. They are both as incompetant as the other and quickly play the game of "it's them not us" when you try to attribute blame on their failings in customer service. Having actually managed to speak to someone from "head office" (ICO threats were the only way to get me this far) they have ZERO interest in listening to or dealing with your complaint in a fair manner.

For what it's worth I now have an ICO case progressing against Travelex after hitting a brick wall with them. Not much use in a fraud situation but definitely worth persuing any relevant action against this company so they quickly learn not to screw over their customers with shoddy support.

very happy with this so far, just used it for a paypal purchase in dollars, saving myself £1.80 over paypals rate on a $35 transaction, all those little savings will mount up

Seems ideal for fraud prevention too, a non travel version for all your usual cards would be handy.

Couldn't even add it to paypal until I turned it back on in the app, so if you keep it off unless using it no-one can do anything with it if its cloned or stolen

    Update:

All my Supercard transactions have finally been debited. After going missing in action from the Supercard App for a while, the first transaction I made using the Supercard (on 6th June), finally debited on 11th July (i.e. 5 weeks after the transaction took place!). The debited amount for this transaction was a few pence less than the previously indicated amount. More worryingly however it did not get debited from the credit card to which the Supercard was supposed to be linked to at the time the transaction was made; instead it was debited from a different credit card that I added to the app some time later. I find it rather troubling that the amount showed as pre-authorised (and therefore 'pending') on one linked credit card, to only then disappear for a while and finally be confirmed and debited against a different linked credit card.

If you are utilizing the Travelex Supercard you would be advised to:
    - Avoid linking more than one debit / credit card to the account
    - Keep a record of your transactions (outside of the app) and keep a close eye on your linked account statements.
    - Expect transactions to take anywhere between a couple of days and several weeks to settle fully (and therefore expect to get an additional period of free credit from a product that isn't even supposed to be a credit product).

So, in summary, Supercard financially works, but not in a manner that gives me much confidence in the Supercard systems and processes. Hopefully all of this is just teething issues with a product that is in a Beta release and will be resolved going-forward.

As I have not lost out I cannot be bothered to chase for an explanation of the irregularities from the Supercard Customer Services team; especially after to speaking to them briefly previously and finding the information provided very unhelpful.

I've linked two different cards and switched between them in short space of time, and used the card, all transactions came from the correct card

Gah! Having finally received my supercard, weeks after everyone else, I've reopened the app and it doesn't recognise the password that I thought I used and trying a few others means that I've now locked myself out of my account.

The reset facility on the app and the website doesn't work.

Have emailed them to ask for help, so lets wait and see. Can someone tell me what the password format is? I seem to remember it was a certain number of letters and a number but can't remember if there had to be an upper case letter and my usual password combination didn't work so I had to pick something else, hence why I cannot remember it.

Finally got round to using the card. Tried the Ryanair website and it worked a treat, albeit with the authorisation being a little slower than a normal debit card.

Ryanair recognised it as a Visa Debit card and did not apply the credit card surcharge. Have it linked to my credit card, so got the interest free period without needing to pay the fee.
