I just joined as I wanted to say a massive thank you to MSE.

Thank you, for ruining what would have been a very useful product for frequent travellers, who registered for the program 3 months ago.

You sent out an email about a trial to 11m people. And even after you knew, after the first batch, the site wasn't coping - you continued to send it. On what planet are you if you even remotely think this was a good idea?

Some people on here, from what I've read as a guest, have an "it's free so why not" attitude - so I imagine the vast majority will be signing up in case they go on a weekend to Magaluf next year. Thus denying people, who have been waiting for this product for months, the opportunity to take part in the trial/pilot.

Once again, thanks, MSE, for ruining it for those that would have really made use of this product. I really hope the click-throughs, referral rates, and ad revenue was worth it.

Because of the MSE newsletter there seems to be very little point in trying to apply - I have been for hours as it would be a really useful product for me - but the app can't cope with the number of people trying to register.

Even the stats that MSE publish, show that only 1 or 2,000 applications appear to be processed per hour..

I just hope Travelex bring it out a a 'proper' product - and those who get the card use them properly/frequently to show them its a viable product

    Regards
    Sunil

So have you got one or not? Presumably, if you had already registered, you will get sent a card.

    Or isn't it that simple?

    No, it's not that simple.

People pre-registered (months and months ago), but people who pre-registered still have to sign up via the app.

Which would have been fine if MSE didn't send it out to millions of people.

And no, I haven't managed to get one. Which is a shame as I travel a lot and this would have saved me a considerable sum each month.

While it is annoying, and I'm still at the security stage 6 hours after starting the application through the app, I hadn't pre registered and didn't know the launch was today until the e-mail, so I'm personally quite grateful.

I also travel a lot though, and it will likely only save me a few pounds a year as my Clarity covers most of my overseas spending, so there's not *that* much to be gained by the supercard over current options. (Although it will be nice to use my cashback/rewards card for overseas spending too!)

Whereas I registered 3 months ago, and this would save me probably £100 per month.

Ultimately this was a trial and should never have been sent in a mass email campaign.

I must admit that the first I heard of the Supercard was early this morning when I saw this thread.
  • It took over 2 hours before I was 'accepted'; and I found it easier on the android rather than Apple app

You can't blame MSE. Travelex have been publicising Supercard for a few months so it's no surprise a money saving website has picked up on a money saving product! It's been discussed on this site and other forums ever since it was announced.

Travelex have completely mismanaged this. They were collecting "pre registrations" but in reality this was just to get your email address so they they could email you today saying it's open.

What should have happened was a proper pre registration. They should have sent targeted emails today with a unique code needed to register to those who had pre registered. They should have released these in batches that their servers could cope with.
