Would be very foolish not to have an alternative source of cash.

I have a Norwich & Peterborough Gold debit card which is fee free from foreign ATMs - is the Travelex Supercard any better ?

    No.........

Can you get a card for your spouse ?

Or can I register both mine and my partners bank cards against the same supercard and switch between the 2 on the app?

    No.........

    Thanks, I didn't think so.

We had a Sainsburys Gold credit card until recently - until 'er indoors turned 66 and the "free" travel insurance ended.

It was great for foreign ATMs - excellent Euro to Sterling conversion rate, and settle up when due to benefit from no fees of any type.

Was the gold card fees free when used overseas as their site says:

"A 2.75% foreign exchange fee may apply every time you use your credit card abroad. Cash advances are also subject to a handling fee of 3% (minimum £3)."

  • I think it needs a SIM - it won't install on my wifi only devices.. either they are selling our details, or want to offer us a new 'travel' SIM.

SAGA credit card may be a good replacement for you.

    Yes. ;)

AFAIK, the N+P debit card doesn't offer loyalty points or cashback. The Travelex Supercard does both when linked to appropriate cards.

Oh, and I don't need to open a M+P current account.

On the android Play store it has my tablet marked as not compatible. However, I downloaded the apk on my phone and copied onto the tablet and it works fine.

So... the mysterious business plan behind this card that we speculated about a few weeks ago.

Give a few hundred lucky people completely free travel money, drum up loads of publicity via MSE (and probably other channels), and hope that a few of the poor sods that missed out go and buy TravelEx's (much) less competitive products...
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get the "Your card is in the post" email yesterday. I think it took about 8 hours of hitting the submit button every few minutes.

My wife and son only managed to get to the point of the final submit. Tried hitting the submit just now and they both got to the congratulations page.

It is never guaranteed until the cards arrive, but it looks like if you started the process before they stopped taking applications, you may still have a chance if you try to submit in the app today.
