Tenth Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
We have just returned from France after a ten day holiday. We used the Supercard every time we could and it worked just fine, with one exception. It doesn't work in unmanned fuel stations. We were OK as we just reverted to our debit card.

I contacted Travelex by email and got a prompt reply. They told me that it won't work in unmanned stations and probably won't in the future. Not a problem, just make sure that we used the other pumps. Unlike eaton (above this post) I am not going to bleat about it. We saved just over £2 on every fuel transaction and quite a bit on the shopping and eating out. I reckon we are quids in and we learnt the lesson.

Is it possible to change the PIN? Every ATM I tried has not offered the service.

I've been using my card extensively since 28th May in the USA (California and Hawaii mainly).

    few things I've observed.
Ive racked up about £2000 worth of spend so far, and none of it has hit my online statement unbilled or otherwise. I'm using a Tesco cc. I can see available credit is reduced, but doesn't reflect total spend.

Also, USA doesn't use chip and pin, swipe only. This has caused some declined messages back to the retailer, however the amount has shown up as a successful transaction on the app. Ive had to use an alternate card to pay for my goods. Currently in discussion with Travelex about a refund of these transactions.

Cash is being dispensed via ATM Machines, and I've only got a Tesco cc linked.

Horizontal placement of text is confusing a lot of retailers who swipe it!

So mixed experiences, mainly positive. Concerned about lack of visibility of my purchases on my Tesco cc but will give it a few more days before raising with travelex.

Heading to The States soon. Why was this card declined? Surely the swipe facility worked just as good as chip and pin (which the U.S. have never had)? Should I be aware of any particular places where this card could be declined?

You shouldn't be dependent on a single card.

Unfortunately for me the whole Travelex Supercard experience has been a complete shambles.

A month has passed and I'm still unable to add any cards to my account let alone get my postal address updated (I left my previous rental property over 2 weeks ago).

Talking to anyone on the Travelex Supercard support line is like to talking to a bunch of incompetent morons. I've been disconnected multiple times, conveniently each time I ask for the call to be escalated. Emails take forever to be acknowledged, let alone answered, and every time you ask them why things are taking so long (or why nothing has been done) you get apology after apology about high demand.

Never experienced such a poor product launch.
  • Whilst still waiting for some sort of resolution from Travelex, a little bit of Googling has lead me to the actual card operator's account management page:

    t u x e d o p r e p a i d DOT c o m

Logging in as an eaccount holder with your Supercard account number, DOB and account password will take you to an interesting if simplistic account management page.

Unfortunately no address change option that would be useful to me so I will have to resort to phoning Tuxedo directly tomorrow in an effort to get my complaint resolved.

Mine finally arrived this morning. However having researched the best way to spend in Turkey I'm not sure what to do! I've read that it's best to withdraw sterling and then change to lira in resort as the exchange rate is better. Will this result in charges or is it just sterling withdrawn in the UK? I can't figure it out from their info. My debit card is natwest so using that will rack up the costs and I don't think I'd be able to get anything else due to time constraints and the credit checks 😔. Any advice greatly appreciated

We have been using our card in the USA this week, the only time it didn't work was in the taxi from the airport. But then my Post Office card didn't work in the same reader, luckily we had cash.

I like the way the app keeps track of all the spending almost instantly, and you see the conversions. I've not been asked for a pin any time, sometimes you sign the slip in a restauraunt, but at other tills it's just swiped and handed back.

I expect this advice is just about where to swap sterling notes for lira - better in Turkey than in the UK (I don't know if this is true or not). But I imagine using a specialist travel card instead is still going to win - even one that's Visa rather than MasterCard.
