Basically long story short I am A muslim woman I went through the drive-through at McDonald's and ordered a burger without bacon I confirmed this with the lady I then ate half and it had a bacon in it.
I have rarely eat McDonald's I was just in such a rush after work I thought I would order one.. this is the third time at the same store that this has happened the first two times they have offered me a free meal even though it went through head office I don't want anything I just this is outrageous and if I was allergic to nuts and they had confirmed that they didn't have any nuts in it and went And ate it I could've died.

    What to do? Fuming

    Hmmm.

As far as I know, MOST McD burgers DON'T have bacon in anyway (Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with cheese etc), so why not order one of those?? Why order a SPECIAL burger that comes with added bacon and then request for the bacon to be removed?

Seems to me you're looking to cause trouble...

    How moronic.
If op wants a special burger which usually has a different combination of sauce and salad along with different bread but without the bacon then that's up to her, not you!

I'm shocked so many thanked this post as well!

Op, write a complaint to head office, hopefully they'll send it to regional management and see staff are adequately trained.

Yes it's entirely normal to say "I'd like a cheese and bacon burger with no bacon" through a drive through speaker - so you have not only an odd way of asking for a cheese burger but possible audio issues - and the OP (despite having problems twice before STLL claims not to have checked the burger before eating it. I don't believe a word of it.

I grew up with family who did not eat pork for religious reasons- none would have gone back to an eating establishment where there was any doubt about getting served non pork products and nor would they eat meat without checking it was what they expected. That the OP had problems there twice before and not only went back yet again but still didn't check implies she is not very bright or not very devout or has an over active imagination.

The scenario as the OP tells it simply does not ring true although moronic might be a bit of a harsh way to describe her acorn 5.

Frankly the comments in #2 was just that - moronic.

Where does op state she ordered a bacon cheese burger no bacon? She could have ordered a big tasty no bacon. We don't know what was ordered.

Even if she did order just that, she isn't expected to be an expert on their menu so however she orders her food they should their expertise to make sure they get it right!

And deflecting blame on to op when they messed up is ridiculous. Although it may be prudent to check, we shouldn't have to check the contents of our burger to check its been made right every time we eat!

The fact that op has unreasonably come under fire here really is detriment to this forum.

Ours isn't great either, my wifes attempts to have an egg only mcmuffin has always failed, unfortunately our mcdonalds doesn't believe it has to serve what you have ordered so you aren't given a correct replacement or a refund.

Don't they ask you to confirm the order on the screen and it has an entry such as

    >NO Bacon

Have you ever seen pedestrians cross the road without checking? You remind me of such people! They might have right of way but if someone hits you then that doesn't really matter any more (but your health will!)

Given that McD advertise bacon products (and OP is clearly aware that it is an active ingredient) then she can not check all she wants but she still may be hit by the proverbial car. Luckily the bacon issue is not life threatening, but the OP did try and demand more sympathy by making it out like it was (comparing to peanut allergy). If they had a peanut allergy then they would be a fool not to check a burger for peanuts if they are aware that peanuts are an active (and relatively popular) ingredient in burgers.

Sadly, anything which involves people and making things may have some margin of error (especially when the people making those things are young and fresh out of college, with a reduced level of customer service skills and doing mind-numbing work).

I've seen some worse stuff in McD when I worked there, one thing which sticks to mind is when a colleague cooked a burger on the wrong grill which resulted in it being uncooked. They then wrapped it up and had it served to a customer. One bite later and the customer was at the front desk kicking off (rightly so!). McDonald's fault yes, but could have been avoided by simply lifting the bun up. The only person who potentially suffered was the customer and his health. The employee was given a warning, and McD gave out a free meal which costs them hardly anything. If the customer had clocked the burger beforehand then he would have gotten the same result minus the potential bout of food poisoning!

So conclusion, you do have to check but if you don't (and nobody is forcing you!) then you are the one being a fool.
