OS Thursday 9th August 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone

As its 6.20 here thought I'd get you started. Hopefully will catch Jackie0 before she goes in after her second gloopy shower. No candle here, but will have a jug of Sangria with your name on it, if that is OK? Prayers with you mate.

Amie - where have you been hiding sent you a PM.

Waiting for a text from DS as his GF was taken to hospital last night with stomach pains, hopefully nothing serious. His new job seems to be going fine.

Nothing much changed, had friends round last night for a meal. We have a Tefal electric Stone, which you cook your meat/fish, etc., on at the table. Went down very well. All this resting (well OK sunbathing) is having a impact as I am awake early not tired.

Take care

Morning Donny-Gal and all the rest who follow. Hope everyone is well. JackieO thinking of you today, candle will be lit when I know I won't doze off, don't want a fire do we :o lavendar one I think will be best, hope everything goes well and that the gloopy stuff smell doesn't last too long :) .

Well I should be asleep up sore throat from 3.30am ish, came downstairs at 4am for pain relief etc but hasn't worked so still here. Think I'll fill the washing machine actually, can't see me getting back to sleep. Wouldn't mind but it was 2am by the time I got to sleep. Might have a lay down on the sofa and see if I can just doze a bit, milk man hasn't even been yet, thought they came before 5.30am..

Need to go to the chemists today, DS2 has caught headlice again, I do wish my neighbour would treat her kids as he keeps catching them all the time, I've told her dozens of times and the fact treatment is free but she's too darn lazy (her kids are the only ones he's played with since I last checked him, can see them crawling in the poor kids hair) Will cut his hair today aswell, bit shorter makes it easier to get through with the comb. Did DS1s last night, he's clear but hasn't played with those kids thankfully, he screamed the place down of course, hates having his hair cut. Got to get DS1s prescription ordered aswell. Apart from that I think it's housework, studying, playing with kids (referee when required of course) and errands for me, oh joys.

Will have a look at meal plan aswell, need to switch round things as no oven seeing as the glass fell through on mine yesterday, fingers crossed the company who are delivering it will call today to say when my flashy new one will arrive. Bit sad really that I'm so excited about a new cooker but I've never had a 'new one' always a second hand cheap one that would 'do for now' like this one which the top was so warped you had to hold pans or they would slide off, oven door which leaked heat out etc. Now I cook from scratch so much more I've begun to really hate mine so pleased in a way that I am getting a new one :D

**Edited** just checked meal plan, chinese planned tonight (I best get the meat out) so no need for oven, dumplings tomorrow will have to be changed as stew is made already, not enough to do them in the SC, oh well healthier anyway. Burgers for Saturday should be fine, will do salad and something else with them, can't do chips as planned as don't have a frier so always do oven chips, I tried making them shallow fried last night and gave up :o

Right that washing machine won't empty/fill itself so I best get cracking, have a good day everyone.
One day I might be more organised...........

Pen Pen well done to you and your daughter :T :T

Excited definately, however sad it may seem, I keep looking at it on the page online and thinking, that's mine :j wonder when it'll be arriving, might be a pain and call today to ask, then I can plan first meal to cook with it :D saving my new pans for when it arrives aswell, double the nice new things  , something else I've bought 'that'll do's' of until this week. Might treat myself to some new bakeware when I save up some more ££ aswell, people are always on about Mermaid ones being great and lasting.

Lil_Me you bring back memories of when we were first married, gifts from parents/relatives of 3 piece suite, dining table/chairs, bed, bedroom suite, gas fire, etc., and the excitement when we could replace and have new ones, bit by bit and not always dear replacements! Enjoy your new cooker/pans.

Good morning everyone , I am sitting here as usual looking out across the Medway River, and the sky is a bit watery looking .Still it's not raining so that is a bonus .:j
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and good wishes, and believe me the first thing I will do when I get back home is to let you know how it all went .
I think so many people will be lighting candles, and keeping me in their thoughts and prayers today is so wonderful. I have been so lucky in having such positive vibes from here that getting better should be a doddle .The media tend to slag off forums, and say that they are full of people with too much time on their hands well I disagree. This forum in particular has been great to me. I couldn't wish to 'meet' a nicer bunch of people .My 'virtual' friends have been terrific. You are there for me through the good times and the bad .We have shared tips ,laughs and at times a few tears .:A
I feel as though you are true friends and that is what is important in life .I met a few of you when I was at the Blackpool meet and we had a wonderful week-end .Nelski you are an absolute hoot and exactly how I imagined you would be:A .Bargain Rzl you are such a lovely lass and I do so admire your ability to enjoy every minute of life , 'Nessum Dorma' will always remind me of you on the motorway singing away:A
There are so many people on here that it would take me all day to thank for your love and support The pms I have received have been amazing .Even from halfway around the world , Aussielass thank you for your pms. Its quite humbling at times to think that so many people from all over the place give a minute for this daft old dear in Kent .Thank you seems inadaquate really but I will do my best to get today over with and back on track as soon as possible .I would be a fool to say that I am not frightened, of course I am ,but I have so much yet to do, and my two beautiful daughters are the brave ones not me
I just want to get back to 'normality' and be playing with my tribe of grandchildren as usual.
Family life is very important to me ,along with all my good friends I have been so blessed with my tribe and also my friends
Thank you all once again and I will do my darndest to kick this thing into touch
Cheers everyone and God Bless you all. :A
I am off now to have another shower in the pink gloopy stuff. Chanel numero cinq it ain't, but i shall be hopefully germ-free for this afternoons little shin-dig. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Love from JackieO in North Kent xx:beer:
    P.s. Bargain Rzl I look forward to a decent G&T:rotfl: :D
  • Hi all :hello: haven't been around much this week, computer problems AGAIN

Good luck wishes to JackieO, I'll be lighting my favourite candle for you too. I had my very first mammogram yesterday and thought of you while they were squeezing me into a flat shape :o I hope things go well for you and we hear your cheery voice again very soon.

Hugs too to Pink-Winged, I hope time works its magic and lessens the pain of your loss soon, it's so hard to lose a close friend.

Today is laundry day AGAIN, then I have a college session later on this morning and a hairdresser's appointment after that. I think I have all I need for our holiday next week apart from the train tickets to the airport which I think I can get online.

    Have a good day all

Morning. Not too much going on here today. I have to go back to work, and no doubt there will be a pile of messages and things that have to be done urgently. I think I will play catch -up this morning before I go. Pay the credit card bills and tidy up my messy office.
    Hope everyone is well. Cheers
