Hands off delly you bully, but I don't think you will because it'll mean taking your hands out of your pockets

xxxLove it Petrichor - I forgot he was a member of the dirty mac brigade (with holes in the pockets!)
I like the idea of using braising steak instead of mince for chilli - I must give it a go. I've not tried putting cumin in it though. a Nigella book I have at home suggested cinnamon and clove (yummy!) and I've made it that way ever since. - 'twould be a good recipie for a slow cooker too ! (not to self - go and get a slow cooker when OH goes back to work)
Welcome back home bails I note there were no stories of mass murder on French/Southern English motorways. I take it you in-laws survived!. Hope you're tongue isn't too sore (from biting it all the way home!).
Well done on another lb off naghair
welcome raphael - I have a weakness for chips and dips too, especially when they're sitting right in front of me. What I find easiest to do is to either bring a low fat version of my own with me, push them to the other side of the table or ask the host to keep them away from you. My friends are usually very understanding. As for cheese - have you tried some of the half fat ones? They're normally not too bad. WW isn't kind to cheese lovers (too high in points) and I've managed to find a few alternatives (laughing cow light and tesco's v. low fat soft cheese),but you still can't beat a cheddar cheese and branston pickle sandwich!...Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

I don't buy snacks very often, I don't crave crisps or chocolate and stuff like that, so I figure a few pringles on the weekend is no biggie!! (I do try and hold back from stuffing them all thou!)
I've tried the WW half fat cheese, but found it very dry, I will try laughing cow when I next buy it. I like really strong mature chedder. I have a small pot of dry parmasan (sp) cheese that I use to sprinkle on HM spag bol etc, it stinks like feet so I don't use too much!!

...Raph (put an extra 'l' in your name yesterday - sorry! - again) When making chilli I found that Jamie Oliver's method to be the best in both taste, texture, and the most healthy; instead of buying mince buy some chuck or braising steak (which is a lot leaner) and chop it yourself or in a processor; blitz the onions in a processor as well, this does give the dish a much better texture and finally, try adding some cumin, about a tsp per lb of meat. Regarding meals - I don't usually have 2 forms of starch eg if I have a curry then I'll have either rice OR naan, but not both - saves calories and money :j
I buy a bag of Asda frozen mince, it's £1.something and does me for 4 or 5 meals (6 at a stretch).
Both me and my bro don't like kidney beans, so I always use a tin of baked beans instead. The recipe I'm going to try is...
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Cumin
1 tsp Ground coriander
2-3 tsp Chili flakes
Garlic
Tomato puree
Beef stock cube
Worcester sauce
Onion, mushrooms, peppers, fresh tomatos, and tin baked beans.
(poo, just realised I have no peppers!! oh well)
Will let you know how it goes

^^^That sounds fabulous, I'm glad to see that someone else isn't afraid of using chilli flakes either!! Unless you particularly like the tomato sauce from the baked beans you could try a can of haricot beans.

morning all, sounds like we are all having a great bank holiday! If you're a cheese fiend try the new cathedral city light stuff - it melts really well and isn't too dry. if i want a strong cheese flavour i grate in a bit of parmesan with it and that sems to do the trick. Ajax is quite right that if you are a carb monster then SW green days are fantastic. Well done naghair, you sound like you are really doing well.0

Brighton_belle I finally got around to making your Moroccan Stew yesterday. It was delicious, and definitely one to be repeated.
I'm gonna finish it off today0 -

Hey bails, welcome to the sunshine coast :j ; I'm to the east of Queens Park if that means anything to you. Have a good rest tonight. Hope you sleep deeply and feel some benefit: not always possible I know.

Thanks BB x
Yeah, as you can imagine, I'm struggling loads today, which is no great surprise of course. Trying not to eat loads but just giving myself a bit of a break today - gotta do what you gotta do and all that...
As for the weight, despite losing or maintaining all holiday I got on the scales this morning to find out that I'm the heaviest I've ever been!(12 st 7) I am disappointed but I know it's not the end of the world - it's only a pound more than my maintenance weight but I just don't want it to start creeping on even more again. It's just so hard when I have no energy!!
I also fell quite badly down the garden steps in the dark last night and am struggling to walk, feel about 80 instead of 32! So all in all, not such a great day but am hoping that a little moan on here will stop me from reaching for the nearest edible thing (and the way I'm feeling that could be almost anything so the desk had better watch out!:D)
My cat has put on lots of weight while we've been away so Zacc and I will be having a fat day together.
Hope you are all having a healthy and fun Sunday, will catch up on the posts now xxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Okay,I've just caught up with all you lovely people and now feel
for sounding so miserable!
Well done BB on fitting into your clothes, that's fab! And to anyone else who's doing well, hope you're all really proud of yourselves.
As for the journey home, I had to cope with MiL singing OPERA in a Ford Focus while I was trying to sleep!!!!!!! It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it! I was sorely tempted to bop her on the head with a baguette but somehow resisted. (is there a smilie for that??!) Anyone wish to nominate me for sainthood?:D xxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hey bails ... sorry to hear your not having such a good day.
Stick with it though - if you are really tired can you take a nice relaxing bath or put your feet up in the garden ... just to keep you occupied and away from the fridge.
I, too have hit my heaviest weight, I know how demotivating it is. Just see if you can do one positive thing today (i.e. healthy choice for dinner/supper) and then build on it tomorrow
take care
