I LOVE that bread!!! The main thing I like with it is the fact it toasts properly... like 'real' bread... not like WW stuff which goes like cardboard.

Ive been having KM bread, with very lf flora & 2 pieces of LF bacon - a bacon butty for only 2.5 points :j

starlight did you know it's on special offer in Tesco at the minute. - I think it's 2 for £1.20 or something like that! I bought 4 loaves and shoved 3 in the freezer cos it's not always there when I go looking for it.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

    Evening all :hello:

It's been gorgeous here today, not like your normal August Bank holiday at all ... so what have I been doing? ... clearing out the cupboard in the study so that I can get my new filing cabinet in there and get my paperwork sorted out, and clearing old shoes out of the cupboard under the stairs ... I didn't want to sunbathe anyway ... I'm taking the healthy option and staying pale and interesting! :D

DH and I are off out somewhere tomorrow - not sure where, but I'm sure we'll think of something.

Well done Holly - that's a great result, I think you're pretty much guaranteed to be Slimmer of the Week on Wednesday! :T It shows what can be achieved if you stick to a plan 100%, so good for you. Of course you can keep it up, but don't expect to achieve that kind of weight loss every week!

Bails - hope you haven't incurred any serious injuries from your fall. When are you off to brave the monsoons in India? Have a great time whenever it is.

waaskint - soup makes a good lunch and some of the ready made varieties are quite low in calories, so presumably low in WW points too - Heinz scotch broth, spring vegetable, and the big soup range for example. Home made soup can be point free on WW - there's a recipe here that's very good. I often have Ryvita and Laughing Cow light cheese spread and supplement it with chopped cucumber, tomatoes and celery.

Tiredy - thanks for the tip about frylight balsamic dressing, I'll look out for it.

    Have a great day tomorrow.

    Good evening all,
Pleased to report that the HM chili went well. The recipe called for 2 glasses of red wine, and 3-4 tsp chili flakes. I think the 2 glasses of wine were too much, I'll try 1 glass and a glass of water next time. Also WAY too much chili, even for me! I'll think just 1 1/2 tsp will do. I added a couple of squares of chocolate too, it gave it a nice 'deep' flavour.
Rather than leave the bar in the cupboard, to be nibbled at, I've broken it up and put it in the freezer.
My small 'taste test' of chili ended up turning into a huuuuuge VAT! :rotfl:LOL. Rather than eating it all, I had a couple of spoonfuls on my jacket spud, and froze 3 portions for later.

My poker game ran late so I've only just got in and cooked my dinner (grilled chicken and salad). I'm not off to bed for a while yet thou, I'm watching 'serial killers night' on the crime channel, and finishing off the wine! :p

raphael and starlight - I've tried the ww cheese too and it stinks. You guys can't get a brand called "low low" over there? It's an Norn Iron (or Irish) cheese that's quite low in fat and cals.

Not heard of it? I'll keep an eye out when I next pop to Asda.

I've also promised my brother if the weather stays nice I'll do a bbq when he's down (as well as the chili  I'm too good for him). I thought I might do myself healthy chicken kebabs, with some salad and wholemeal pitta bread, instead of burgers. Does anyone have any ideas what I can stick on the skewer with the chicken chunks? I thought peppers and onion, but I want something to make it more interesting. Maybe mushrooms, but would they just burn and shrivel up?
    Any ideas?

    Mornin all:D

When I've done veg kebabs on the BBQ I have used:
    Peppers
Mushrooms - I use the closed cup ones and they dont shrivel up too much
    Courgette
Tiny new potatoes in their skins (You'd probably need to pre-cook these - just a few minutes quick boil to soften them ... not too much though or they'll fall apart)

Also (I've not used these myself)
small tomatoes (I'm guessing these would be great with a balsamic dressing)
Aubergine (again I'm guessing - but I reckon this might need either a tiny bit of pre cooking - else just cut the peices quite small)

    Hope some of that helps

    good luck with the bbq:)
  • Came on here to confess been eating chocolate all weekend  and now regretting it but saw Petrichors birthday wishes to Beanielou and Katiek's lovely idea about fruit smoothie lollies - sounds delish - which cheered me up, decided its not as bad as I thought as have otherwise been really good. Will stop kicking myself and for next two days start as Day 1 and am sure can limit the damage. Thanks Petrichor Oh and well done Holly, that fantastic.:T

    Good Sunny Morning Peeps:j

Thanks for all the tips on bbq kebabs, I shall be doing some too later in the day. I've got some lean pork and chicken breasts which I'm going to coat with some Moroccon spice that I bought last week, it's Ras El Hanout - a Morrocan style spice mix with rose petals - saw it on a Nigella programme a while back and thought I'd give it a try. It seems to be Moroccan everything at the moment as there was a lovely Moroccan recipe in a magazine yesterday, which I shall adapt to a healthy version and put it on here if it's okay. I must admit I'd never thought of putting potatoes on the skewers I should think that they'll taste like baked potato ( :rotfl: I know :o ), I normally just use onion, peppers, cherry tomatoes, halumi and mushroom once, they absorbed the juice from the pork and were quite alright, just make sure that they are in contact with the meat though...

...Hope that you're feeling a bit better today bails and not too bruised...

...Tdq don't dwell on the lapse with the chocolate, what's done is done, just try and be a bit stronger today, it'll even itself out in the end  ...

...my step count for yesterday was only 8,759. I hope for better things today

  • I confess I didn't just fall off the wagon I kicked it and it broke

Went on holiday with all the best intentions which must have fallen overboard whilst on the ferry over there! Didn't have the internet connection until I got back to my parents in wales for a spot of dogsitting on fri and I must say reading all the posts has really cheered me up and got me going again.... At least I enjoyed being naughty though and am facing up to it rather than trying to hide it with KitKats :D

    So day one again...

Just looked at the chart and I forgot to post my results before I went again...might as well give you a run down...

    lost 4lbs in first week
gained 0.5lbs in second (which is when I joined this thread)
Then I lost 3lbs and then at my last weight in I lost 0.5lbs

I resisted putting one of my shiny half stone flower stickers on my monitor though as I thought I'd weight until I was half a stone less after my holiday so it didn't go back up and leave my staring at a sticker I knew I didn't deserve...

So Day one and a shiny sticker goal to work towards don't actually know what the damage is as my mum doesn't appear to have any scales.

Thanks to all you guys...reading all the problems and advice on this thread really keeps you going. I do sometimes get disheartened when eating healthier than my other half and he gets to stay at 8 1/2 stone (he's 6ft 2 so a proper skinny minnie) regardless of how many cream cakes or big macs he munches.

That's what holidays are for serendisglair! This holiday weight will soon come off especially as you're getting back on the wagon :j :T Well done you!...

... I'm wondering if it's wise to weigh ourselves as soon as we get back from a holiday or wait for a week after having been back on the wagon. I suppose it depends on the way how each one of us looks at things  Hmmmm...
