Back from two weeks holiday in Wales. Yes I did have the Tregoes Waffles which some one so kindly pointed out. And the Welshcakes. And the Bara brith. And the Welsh lamb. And ice cream. And lots of meals out. And have put on the 1.5 lb I had lost, plus another 1/4 lb. But it was fun.:j
Official WI is tomorrow for me so maybe by then I'll have lost it. I really like the theory that 'fresh' weight is easier to lose.
Have avoided eating by reading all the pages on here :rotfl: and now feel totally ready to start again.
Thank you for being here, people.0 -
Well done aussiesbird :j and Lelc :j That's brilliant considering you've been on hols, just proves the value of walking :T ...
...Glad you had a lovely holiday grannynise and well done too :j considering that it seems you've eaten the whole of Wales! :rotfl: ...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Beanielou! Hope you're having a lovely day and are allowing yourself to be pampered!
Grannynise, glad to hear you had a lovely hol and made the most of all that beautiful Wales has to offer. (Anyone see 'Mountain last night?' Man, I LOVE those hills!!)
Thanks Petrichor, I am feeling more positive today, despite still being whacked. The legs are sore but nothing serious I don't think so that's a relief as I'm off to India a week today.
It's so great to read how much everyone gets out of this thread, and lovely to know we can help each other get back on the wagon when we fall off! I'm itching to get started properly and am struggling to be patient but I just need to focus on enjoying India knowing the weight loss and you lovely peeps will be here when I get back.
India is a really big deal as it's the first chance I've had to go back since I had to give up leading expeditions 3 years ago. Once I get on that plane I'll be jumping up and down with excitement I'm sure! And even better, I'm going with my soulmate this time - how awesome is that?!:T
Hope you've all had a fab Bank Hol Monday and found some sunshine. I'm just back to my house which is lovely so I can kick back and relax for a bit now.
Think I will check out the recipes here and in my GL book so I can plan the first week back after India, get off to a good start.
Bearing in mind I'll probably be sick of spicy food by then, anyone got any particular favourites to recommend? My OH is veggie so veggie ones would be good or else easily adaptable ones xxxThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Any ideas?
Hi Raphael.
Chilli sounds lovely - would never have though of putting chocolate in but I bet it works well. Congratulations on putting the rest in the freezer though. (mind you, if you were being REALLY good, you would have made red wine icecubes with the rest of the bottle too! Then they are perfect for just popping a couple into stews/bourgignons etc);)
We have cooked mushrooms on the BBQ and they work well, especially if you pick good sized chunky ones which take longer to cook. You can always parcook the chicken chunks before threading them. Baby onions work well too, especially if just slightly zapped in the micro to soften them slightly first. Peppers and cherry tomatoes do work well and whole corncobs BBQ well when put in foil witha couple of butter buds and just a small spoon of water to help keep moist.
Are you marinading the chicken or just having it plain?
Good luck with it - hope the weather holds for you!

Thanks to all you guys...reading all the problems and advice on this thread really keeps you going. I do sometimes get disheartened when eating healthier than my other half and he gets to stay at 8 1/2 stone (he's 6ft 2 so a proper skinny minnie) regardless of how many cream cakes or big macs he munches.
Hi Serendisglair - glad you enjoyed your hols and don't worry about the little gain. No holiday should be ruined by perpetually watching the calories!
I know how you feel about skinny partners - I thought my one was bad but he is only 5'4'' and about 9-9 1/2 stone, so slim rather than skinny. He too can eat what he likes, fully deserves to have a beer belly and never gains an ounce! He is the same weight now as he was at 18 - and he is now 44! How annoying can you get.
Don't get disheartened though, your lad sounds like he needs to fatten up as much as I need to shed lbs

PS Can anyone tell me how to quote 2 people in one reply so don't keep hogging the page with individual replies (complete with long signatures) to each?0 -

And I have lost 3lb this week. I may be getting it wrong because I am new to this so not sure how/when you work out figures. If i am wrong I'm sorry. Well done to all you losers!! Anyone watch biggest loser on tv, that really inspires me.
Sorry - this week's chart will include both week's losses.

Never thought of that!! I will do that next time.
I have converted my brother and he now wants chicken kebabs instead of burgers too  . I think I will marinade some and just coat some in olive oil.
For the marinade I was thinking ~ Low fat natural bio yogurt, paprika & curry powder, and a few herbs. Sound good?? I will marinade overnight and then stick them on the skewer.
Any other ideas for a (healthy) marinade?Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
