As with any plan you chose, sticking with it is the key, and this time, with the help of this forum you can and will lose the weight and keep it off. Plenty of inspirational folk on here who have reached target: petrichor, victory, suggs and then others who have lost 4-5 stone and still working at it.

Thanks for that i shall weigh myself tomorrow morning and post on here. In the past i have lost five stone, bringing my weight down to 10stone 10lbs, but over the last seven years it has been creeping back on, been on numerous diets and lost a stone here and there, think im probably around 13stone now, so would love to try and get back down to around 11stone.
Beautiful day here, off out to walk dog in bit then shopping, will try and be good with what i put in basket, but son has a football tournament tomorrow all day so feel that i will be having sausage rolls , crisps etc whilst watching:mad: .

Oooh an in joke just between the two of us. Sorry to taint you with the Brighton lable :rotfl: :rotfl: .
No you are not going to be having sausage rolls while you watch. Today you are going to spend a little time preparing a delicious rice salad with cold peas, red kidney beans, herbs, chopped apple, a little half fat mature cheddar, cherry toms & chopped spring onions. For extras take a couple of (self)pre cooked quorn sausges and perhaps a little mango chutney to dip them into. Then a carton of strawberries or blue berries to pick at. Yum yum yum:D
Wonder if it's the same footie tornament my colleagues are going to with their 8 yr old.
I must get out in to this sunshine. Been at the computer for far too long:D

Wecome to the gang :T . I eat eggs most days: SW reckon it's fine if your collestro lis ok. I find them very filling where as cereal leaves me hungry within the hour.
You don't seem to mention vegetables or fruit very much? It would be good to try and incorporate some into your diet as they are low in calories and would help fill you up as well as being very good for you. It's difficult if, like me, you don't like vegetables very much (though luckily I could eat fruit for England). I've had to train my self to cook some at every meal. Sometimes it is a case of taking a few mouthfuls to be good and then allowing myself some lovely meatand then some more veg. Try and find a couple of recipes which include vegetable in an interesting way. Using recipies has been another good way of incorporating them, rather than choosing some meat and some potatoes and not knowing what to do next. I've only really leant to cook properly in the last couple of years and i reckon I'm quite a bit older than you. Also you refer to having potatoes and rice in the same meal - perhaps try and cut one of these out as they are both major carbs and you shouldn't need both in one meal. These are all little tricks that will help. Some people can change everything at once, and others need to change one thing at a time. So go at the pace that is right for you. But stick with us and before long that horrid beached whale feeling will go :j

I do love veggies, but I find it hard to squeeze in '5 a day'.
If I make a spag bol, I'll put in chopped toms, mushrooms, peppers etc. And I usually have some peas or beans with my dinner.
My brother is down this week, and he's requested chili con carne, I usually just use a packet mix, but I've found a reciepe and am going to attempt it from scratch. I'm going to make some tonight as a trial run, and have some on my jacket potato, and freeze the rest.
Woops, didn't realise potatos & rice was a bad combo! I'll have to substitue one for a salad!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Well it's only my opinion Raphael. But the salad with it sounds a better option than both.
Well done forthe cooking from scratch tonight: good luck.:T
Yeah five a day isn't always easy but it having that 'target' helps me push for it and I'm trying to increase my range of veg so I get a better variety of vitamins and minerals and maybe discover new things I like. I've done better since I switched to frozen green veg so I've always got some on hand now (brochli, green beans, sprouts, brad beans and peas). Butternut squash is great roasted too, have you tried that? (with sliced red and yellow peppers and all sprinkled with chinese 5 spice. Yum yum yum.

The shopping trip was NOT a sucess.
I took maybe a dozen items in the changing room - I looked awful in each and every one (tried to go for the most flattering cuts but to no avail).
Oh well - at least I saved a few pennies. I'll go back in few months and try again (when I'm half a stone lighter).
On the upside - my resolve was good. Normally I'd see my ghastly reflection and then go and find solace in a big choccy bar. Today - I headed for the veg stall on the market and stocked up on fruit and veg. Then called in at waitrose for some of their low fat soups:A
(Hot pot is bubbling away nicely for later too:drool: )0 -

Butternut squash always looks so much hassle to prepare!
I live alone so don't buy much fresh veg, as it goes off before I finish it. I find a freezer full of frozen veg alot easier too. I've stocked up on sweetcorn, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, and cabbage. I just throw a handful in the steamer (bonus points for me!!) straight from the bag and it's done in a few minutes.
I made a curry the other day, I usually stick chopped toms in anyway, but I wanted some more veg. I put some broccoli and broke up some green beans into it, it was scrummy!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Thanks for thinking of me:) There are 4 classes in my area - but they are all in the evening. Evenings just arent do-able since I can't drive myself so we would have to drag the whole family out to it.
Please don't apologise - I really apreciate your help.:D0 -
