  • lol bb, no he's in barnsley at a scout camp( no scouts there now obviously). He is being an immense showoff this weekend as he has taken all our medieval kit with him. Everyone else is in little 2 man plastic tents and wearing wellies and he is poncing about in full length medieval cavalry boots ( actually mine!) with a 20ft authentic tent containing a double bed. He will be unbearable by the time he gets home on monday.

got your pm custard - i shall keep an eye for your sae. have you had a look at the the recipes on the first page of this thread? There are some great ones on there, the SW curry sauce really is gorgeous. finished my strawbobs so it's time for bed now.

ajax is sooo right about this thread. I started SW this time last year, joined this thread and lost 10kg. Then i got sidetracked and overstressed in my personal life, let everything slip and gained back 8 of those kgs. I made the decision to pull my finger out and get back on SW and back on here and lost 1.8kg in my first week. It's like a slimming club but you can visit it whenever you want!

Count me in too please and Lois, just let me know which week you need me to do the chart - more than willing to share the burden when you need it.

Hope you all have a good bank holiday weekend. After much chat about slow cookers, I bought one this week from Tesco direct. I was really excited about it but the beef I made today was decidely average. The thing is that I am very purist when it comes to my meals and I generally will not add any fat or carbs to any of my meals (excluding breakfast cereal). So basically my beef thing ended up being ratatoille with meat in it. OK but not great. Any recipe suggestions? Couldn't find any on post 1 for slow cookers... Thanks

Twinny - can I ask a bit of a personal question? I know you can find a reason not to count points - but why did you join weight watchers in the first place? It's not the nights out/in /wine etc. that you love is the reason to lose weight.... its that other factor.... it may be that you're not ready yet to lose weight - maybe you don't want it enough. Most of us have had the equivalent of a lightbulb moment. Mine was seeing photos from a friends wedding where I'm the widest of wide loads. But even that's not my motivation....I want to have a baby!!!
What I'm trying to get at is that you shouldn't be thinking of reasons not to count points - but the reason why you wanted to do it in the first place - for your next holiday in three weeks (you could have as much as 7lbs off for that), to look good at your friend's wedding. By the way, there's no reason to wear old lady clothes - there's loads of places where you can buy great fashionable outfits for plus sizes now - New Look, MK One and even Evans (Dorothy perkins, matalan and next also do sizes 20-22 in some stores.

I'm on 26 points per day on WW and I spent today at the zoo with my OH, DS, FiL, SiL (x2), Nephew (x2), Niece and my mum. I've had a really great day out and eaten loads - breakfast, sandwiches, crisps, banana, chocolate, a whipped ice cream (the best kind!;) ) and I've even had pizza and chips for tea!. No one knew I was counting points, I just made different choices from everyone else.

What I really want to say is that you can do this , it's just a matter of going from I can't and won't to I will and I WANT TO.

If you need any help, just shout!
    Edel.

Thanks for this message Edel....I have a feeling I will be back to this thread for good soon......:o but when I do it will be to take it 100% seriously cause otherwise the only person I'll be kidding is myself.

    Hi folks
Quick drop in to just register my steps for the day - will read all the posts I've missed later. Done 13753 today, bringing my daily average to 10530 so back over the 10000 average!
On the downside diet has gone badly wrong today and have just scoffed a whole packet of supernoodles and a large cointreau. Seemed a good idea at the time - now feeling slightly squeamish and very low.
Never mind - tomorrow is a new day, daughter is off to dancing and I will go a nice long walk whilst she is there to try to undo some of the damage!

..... gulp!... you're right. Not even raphael can push me back into blokedom.

Loved your post to twinny .... made far to much sense to be your own work tho ;)
  • Katyk I had been wondering about exercise ... I like the idea of counting steps. I am normally VERY active (running around after 4 kiddie, 2 or 3 school runs per day - not short ones either, basically I do not drive so I have to walk). Problem recently has been 5 weeks of school hols (so no school runs)and spending alot of time working (and thus sitting) has taken it's toll. May I ask where you got your pedometer from? Is it any good? I got a freebie one once ... didn't seem to work very well.

Made my first positive step this morning. Feeling motivated and 'ready' now. Now this might sound trivial but ...
I weighed my breakfast cereal - OMG - I normally eat between 2 and 3 times the recommended portion size. I always knew I loaded my bowls up, but I presume just reducing the portion size slightly is bound to help. Also - I use soya milk which is fine except I think it is higher cal than skimmed regualr milk.

    Next positive steps for today.
Going to go and chop veg for my first slow cooker meal today. Will be too busy later for a decent meal ... so I should get it out of the way while I can.

Going to take myself shopping today for some (probably fairly cheapy) 'brighter' clothes. Just something a bit more fashionable, to give me a bit more confidence. I've noticed in the last few years I just seem to be getting more and more frumpy and it doesn't inspire me to look after myself. Nothing too radical - but to get out of my baggy 3/4 trousers and oversized grey sweatshirt would probably be a good move!

Shopping should be a good bit of excercise too:beer:

Ahem...I feel I should clear this up once and for all, incase there is still some confusion!
    I am infact female!
I also wish to say (for the record) that I took NO offence whatsoever to any comments/posts made mistaking me for a guy!!

    Anyway...
I've eaten my poach egg on toast for breakkie.
For lunch I will be having some mackerel, rice and salad. I fillet the mackerel and add tiny bit of olive oil and lots of herbs, then I fold it up in tin foil and stick it in the oven. It's gorgeous.
Not too sure what I'm having for dinner later, probably a jacket potato with a little bit of marg.

    Morning TC
I have had various ones over the years and one of the best I ever had was my Rosemary Conley one which lasted a good year or more. The current one is called GOWalking by Sportline and I am fairly sure it was a freebie from somewhere. Does not measure distance, calories etc so pretty cheap but seems to count steps OK.
Probably like anything else - you get what you pay for and if you get a decent one in a good sports shop (unlike tight people like me) it will be better. Worst one I ever had was my free Kelloggs one - every time I sat down for 2 minutes it zeroed itself! Fine if you want to walk yyour 10000 in one go but useless otherwise!
    Good luck with it:T

  • ktyk, i too am addicted to supernoodles but have managed to wean myself onto the fat free ones. The chilli ones are too spicy for me but the chicken ones are nice and the smokey bacon ones are lush. They're free on green for sw so i take them for lunch at work. Half the office is hooked on them no too because they smell so lush!

Raphael glad you've come out of the closet wearing spangly shoes. You're lunch sounds delicious and very virtuous and healthy. Can you confirm for us too that you aren't in fact the pizza-eating teenage mutant ninja turtle in your avatar. I don't think i could cope with petrichor starting all her posts with COWABUNGA!

TC i noticed your post was before 0700!?!?!?! v impressed that you were together enough to start weighing cereal at that time. It is quite shocking what a portion should actually be. I think thats the reason the kelloggs cereal diet works because it makes you reduce your portion sizes. Speaking of whihc, I knowi am a SW devotee but in the past i found the cereal diet to be a pretty good kickstart and it really got me into the habit of reducing my cereal portions. I hope you enjoy your shopping - it's so easy to get into the habit of only promising yourself something nice to wear when you've got a certain weight but I'm sure it's better for you to feel happy at each stage. I would suggest being selective about where you shop though. Nothing brings me down faster than the changing rooms in River Island, especially those communal ones. Whoever thought that idea ought to be shot. I bet it was same person who thought up that 'speakers on mobile phones' thing.
