Oh - and add to that - my washing machine broke down last week ... 6 peoples washing to do by hand    I had to laugh - else I'd have cried. On the upside ... very nice man came out on Tues to fix it. Bliss!

I do like the sound of the 'green days' thing on SW. So - whats the best way to get started with SW - should I sign up on line? Is it pricey? Just about to get fleeced by my estate agent for fees ... so counting the pennies a bit at the mo.

.... someone said that it was £80 for trhee months. Sounds pricey to me. You can register for free on the website to look at trial menus, or as BB said there are lots of people here who will have SW green recipes they will post or PM. If you are sticking to green (as a veggie you'd have no choice) then I'd consider class or the online group an extravagence that you could do without. It sounds as if you wouldn't find time to stay to class so what would be the point?

The Slimming World plan is fantastic but you will have to stick to it. If you don't then you are wasting your time. Do you want the weight loss? No, I mean do you REALLY want the weight loss? Enough to actually do something about it? I swear some of the people in my old SW group just used to go and think that they were owed 2lb off a week beacuse they had paid their £4.25.

I joined WW a few weeks ago and am heavier than I started - I just cant get motivated. Every day there seems like a different reason not to count the points and stick to it.:o

Do you follow the plan at all twinny? How many points per day allowance do you get? What are your weaknesses, food and drink wise?

Online is about £80 for three months (min sign up time online): too pricey in my opinion. What I personally would really really reconmend, is find your local group, go once and pay 9.50 (might be less at the mo)+ 4.50 week fee to join.
That way you get one to one time with the leader explaining the whole system, plus the guide book that will be so helpful, even though you are only doing green days. For that week you will also be able to go online (make sure you you pick up the password if you've paid) and pick up some recipies there and have a look at a green recipe book. I know time is really tight, but if hubby can hold the fort it will be worth it as a huge investment in your health and well being in the long run. Then with the essentials explained, coming back to us to fill out the gaps will be much easier.

Most important of all, what ever you do, keep in touch with us lot here :D

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I have an enormous weakness for wine :o but am allowed 23 points per day so should easily be able to incorporate a glass or two into my daily allowance. I just have no willpower and I dont know why. Its not as if I dont want to lost weight - I really do!! Ive had plenty of incentives - my first holiday abroad in 7 years was in May and Ive got another one in 3 weeks. My best friend is getting married in October and Im going to be wearing the same clothes as some of the old ladies there cause thats all that fits. Ive been depressed about it but STILL never enough to stick to a regime.....I have health problems which are excerbated by my weight but even THAT isn't enough....

  • Ajax yes - I do really want the weight loss. Sadly I really want so many other things at the moment that is hard to get focus (especially with the new business ... that's pretty stressful). BUT I must stop procrastinating and making excuses and knuckle down to it. In order not ot go AWOL again - I have made this thread my home page on i.e. (dedicated or what!) With so much going on - if something is not under my nose - it just gets overlooked.

Another one of my excuses ... beleiving that a magical diet 'plan' will cure my weight issue. The reality is that if I just carried on as I am and cut out the choccy and biscuits and did a bit more exercise ... there wouldn't be a weight issue.

    Makes it sound so simple...

p.s. agree about the cost of SW ...bit much!

BB like that idea. Thankfully - DH is off for a week next week - so I'm going to do something positive and see if there's a class near me:) Thanks for the suggestion

...darn - just looked and cant get to the class. Well - I'll try the free 7 day online trial anyway. Just to get a few meal ideas

.........my weakness is wine too. I make a point of having either a bottle every other day or half a bottle a day. That's less than I'd like but I am here to diet. I can't have two bottles of Valpolicella AND continue to lose - it simply doesn't work. How about you cut down to half a bottle a day? That's only four points per day from your 23. After excessive wine last week I've been on 25 points per day maximum this week (I'm allowed 29) and haven't REALLY struggled, and I'm a huge eater. I'm sure you can do it twinny - find a picture of someone a size or two less than you in a really great dress and pin it on your fridge or wine rack, depending on whether you're a white, rose or red girl. Tell yourself that you WILL be good for a month and a half and then re-evaluate. Do it for that picture the wedding photographer will take. You WILL look your best for that!!! I think you can do that and still get through 4 bottles a week if you eat sensibly. Make food from scratch, try new zero-point vegetables. Ratatouille made from scratch is zero points and a fantastic potato filling or accompaniment to anything. There are lots of exciting new ways to play with food. Go on.........

Lose the weight, lose the associated health problems. It's a win double.

EDITED after remembering that WW recommend a maximum of 21 points per week on alcohol (thanks delly). 4 bottles of wine is 32 points. I'll see how 32 goes and take it from there.

    ... lol good idea.

Half of me wants to suggest that investing full focus in a weight loss is a new project too far with moving house and might lead to a half hearted attempt which might put you off trying properly later on.

Half of me wants to say it's really really important though, and the rest of your life will be easier with some wobbles gone. Help someone :rotfl:
