Thanks Ajaxgeezer - Your weight loss should certainly be an incentive!! :A

Another one of my excuses ... beleiving that a magical diet 'plan' will cure my weight issue. The reality is that if I just carried on as I am and cut out the choccy and biscuits and did a bit more exercise ... there wouldn't be a weight issue.

    Makes it sound so simple...

........it would be a very very good start, and would take up less of your time rather than more. You'll be doing plenty of exercise up until that completion.... anyone got any boxes for tiredy? :)

.......mine is paltry mate, compared to some. Look here >>>> http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=6099032&postcount=545

... look at the losses achieved by victory, suggs, retiredlady, xx_starlight_xx, lois lane, efrieze.........

The common denominator isn't the plan they were on, but the fact that they all stuck around here on this thread. The folks here are amazing.

Hi Arkonite Babe - welcome to the thread - I've seen you a few times on th Norn Iron board.... how's it going?

I have to tell you - your choices aren't that limited just cos you're in Norn Iron. If you do want a class I'm sure there's also a Rosemary Conley or slimming world class near you. And a "public" weigh in isn't that humiliating. Usually only you and the class leader knows what you weigh.

The best idea though is the first post on this thread - there's a link to a calorie counting website that will give you an idea of the calories you should be consuming, what a "target" weight might be for you etc.

As for scales - don't buy them, the temptation to weigh in more often than once a week is too great and can be a HUGE mistake. Go to your local chemist or boots - they usually have scales that will give you a printout. Then you can keep your little slips as a record of your progress.

There's loads of friendly people on the thread who'll give you loads of help. Why don't you sign up for the September Challenge? (as in to lose 5lbs by the end of september). If you want to know anything else, just give us a shout!

Thanks for the welcome and advice :)

What an exciting new challenge. :T

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe. She had so many children, her uterus fell out. Black Country nursery rhyme, that!

Ajax - hapy0002.gif this post sounds SOOOO girlie! I think Suggs needs to hurry up and get back before you're overwhelmed with female hormones... and don't try to pretend you're innocent - we all know you better.

I joined WW a few weeks ago and am heavier than I started - I just cant get motivated. Every day there seems like a different reason not to count the points and stick to it.:o

Twinny - can I ask a bit of a personal question? I know you can find a reason not to count points - but why did you join weight watchers in the first place? It's not the nights out/in /wine etc. that you love is the reason to lose weight.... its that other factor.... it may be that you're not ready yet to lose weight - maybe you don't want it enough. Most of us have had the equivalent of a lightbulb moment. Mine was seeing photos from a friends wedding where I'm the widest of wide loads. But even that's not my motivation....I want to have a baby!!!
What I'm trying to get at is that you shouldn't be thinking of reasons not to count points - but the reason why you wanted to do it in the first place - for your next holiday in three weeks (you could have as much as 7lbs off for that), to look good at your friend's wedding. By the way, there's no reason to wear old lady clothes - there's loads of places where you can buy great fashionable outfits for plus sizes now - New Look, MK One and even Evans (Dorothy perkins, matalan and next also do sizes 20-22 in some stores.

I'm on 26 points per day on WW and I spent today at the zoo with my OH, DS, FiL, SiL (x2), Nephew (x2), Niece and my mum. I've had a really great day out and eaten loads - breakfast, sandwiches, crisps, banana, chocolate, a whipped ice cream (the best kind!;) ) and I've even had pizza and chips for tea!. No one knew I was counting points, I just made different choices from everyone else.

What I really want to say is that you can do this , it's just a matter of going from I can't and won't to I will and I WANT TO.

If you need any help, just shout!
