sorry to hear about your gain lois - did you enjoy the fish and chips at the time? I'm sure you'll pull it back though. Honey, if you are looking for a substantial SW breakfast you get 42g ofweetabix crunchy bran which is a nice big bowlful, especially with some fruit in it too. I'm rather gutted that weetabix have reformulated their porridge so it isn't a HEB anymore. I was thinking of keeping it as a HEB for me as i think it just has slightly less fibre in it, the nutritional is broadly the same and the amount of milk it uses is still within a HEA. Any SW bods want to offer me some advice on that? p_b that is really romantic that you've kept hold of that name, I hope it brings you luck.
Welcome nais, i'm sure you'll have fun here. In answer to JHKE's question I'm afraid I am a very bad person and frequently use 500g of mince for just myself and OH as we are both greedy. On SW it doesn't matter so much, and from an MSE pov I buy it in bulk at the local farm shop so price wise it's better. IF you aren't doing SW I've made it healthier in the past by padding it out with quorn, and I put a couple of sticks of celery in everything i make - chop it finely and they won't know it's there. I read once you can use all-bran to make mince go further but I've never tried it personally.0 -
lois i have lost 3lbs this week. well done to all you other LOSERS0

Thanks Katie - I normally do buy the crunchy bran as I like the fact that I can have 42g and I bulk it up with a banana.0

Just a quick note after two weeks missing I am back with a 1.5lb loss :j
Just going out the kids are driving me potty  so hopefully a trip to the park might settle things down. This wind doesn't do anything to help. Does any one have any good tips to keep calm rather then reaching for the chocolate.0 -
Hi well done for joining I joined last week and am doing points too.
The book they gave you 'Eat wisely' has a little a-z in the back with some basic points. Good luck and I can recomend ajax's ww spreadsheet somewhere at the begining of this thread- will try and find it when my boss retreats...gtg
...that reminds me, the spreadsheet link. Someone did PM me pointing out that there's a problem downloading the spreadsheet through Internet Explorer, although it was fine from my house (I use Firefox). I'll fix it the weekend, but if anyone wants it in the meantime, just PM me.
Weight watchers do a calculator, which is very simple to use and works out the points of any food as long as you know the calories and the saturated fat content. It costs about a fiver from a consulatant but is VERY useful. It's tiny - fits in a pocket, and would look absolutely lost in a Radley (I'm learning)
Lastly, I hope this isn't old info but I fear it may be. All the talk of Weetabix Minis has reminded me that they (a couple of weeks ago) were £2.17 a box at Tesco, or TWO BOXES FOR £2... yes, you read it right. May be worth checking out instore or online, but it has probably disappeared.0 -

....she had a (ahem!) sales meeting yesterday so couldn't go  She got her first silver 7 in two weeks though, is back on track after the weekend's debauchery, even to the point of driving to the pub this Friday (or so she says).0 -

.... Fibre 1 also allows 42g per HEb serving and I found it delicious. Like you honey28, I'd chuck fruit all over it to bulk it up. I found strawberries to be preferable though as they are still sweet but also a speed food... helped psychologically.0 -
I've posted this on Money Saving Forum and thought I would post it here too, to see what you lot say.
Out of curiosity when doing meals like, spaghetti Bolognese, Cottage Pie how much Mince do you use. We use 500g of mince for 2 Adults and 2 kids (3yo and 22mths) Am trying to lose weight and trying to cut cost but can't seem to get below £60-£70 per week. So wondering whether we are actually eating too much?!
I don't know if I am very mean but I use 500g of mince for five adults and a seventeen year old. When they were all little I used to do 5oog and make up double and freeze some. I have now got the knack of using 1kg and splitting it into bolognese, chilli con carne and shepherds pie. I spend £60 per week on groceries. I always add loads of chopped veggies to my mince.
As I write this I am beginning to feel that maybe my family need more than this but none have ever complained.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

saversarn - out of curiosity, how do you know the points of everything then? When I did ww 5 years ago, we had an extensive list plus a canny piece of card to calculate shop bpought products using the fat/cals ratio.
