Oh dear and here is me having signed up for weight watchers on Monday and am now being sent to Texas for a week in a fortnight
How many points in half a cow?
.
Saversarn - you do know that you can go to a local weightwatchers whilst you're in Texas? Your smart card is all you need and you should be able to look up a local meeting online.
The beauty of WW points is that you can follow it no matter what you eat. Just make sure to take your book and points calculator along with you. Try to avoid fast foods and the rich sauces. I know that the USA is one of the fattest nations in the world but it also has lots of low cal/low fat options available. (even Micky D's does salad now remember!).
As for replacing your scales as long as you're going to your meeting I wouldn't bother. It's better if you only weight yourself once a week althoug I have to admit that I weigh myself every day - I find it motivating whether I've gained or not. If I've gained, I know to pull back a little on the treats - if I've lost then I know I'm on the right track and find it easier to keep going.
Day 3 at 100% since starting WW again on Monday - if only I could get out of the boozing session planned by my friends (yes Ajax some of us do have friends) on Saturday night!
By the way Ajax - how's the planning going for your big night on Saturday? Have you saved loads of points or are you just going to blow the budget?Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

Slimming World is fantastic if you stick to it. It sounds ideal for you too because you want to cut out bread, which is one of SW's taboo foods, no matter what part of the plan you follow. You would do green days as a veggie, and really can eat as much rice, pasta, couscous, potatoes as you like and not use up any 'syns' (naughty points). As a veggie I found this fantastic, and the only reason I'm not doing it now is because I was doing it for so long, and went down the "a change is as good as a rest" route. I would recommend it, but not paying for it - if you stick around on this thread then you will get everything for free that you would pay SW for. We're all here to moneysave, right?
The other day ajax you said to someone that you would recommend sw's staying to sw meetings for a few months to get the hang of it all...
I think that is the better option because to fully explain the whole system if you have never tried it is very difficult. Though like you,I am very happy to answer questions. But the whole healthy a and b choice thing is quite involved. And as you say, you've got to stick to sw properly for it to work. It's half price to join sw at the mo so you get the full expo and book for under a tenner. Just a thought. I'm not criticising you though, as you offer really great advice and are so helpful.:T
bbI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Wow - thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
I think I just hit a real low point and felt I had to deal with this food thing.
It doesnt help that :
1/ I have no fridge (havent done for 2 months - old one broke and can't replace 'cos moving house in 2wks)
2/ My washing machine just broke down earlier this week (so 6 peoples washing to do by hand:eek: )
3/ I'm knackered and have an ulcer the size of mount etna in my mouth. Okay SLIGHT exagerration  ...but it feels like it :rotfl: )
Anyhow - I've made the first poitive step coming here.
Re:slow cooker ... I work two days pw and the rest of the time work from home running my 2/3 businesses ....mad! so I've no excuse really ... I should be able to do my meals. In all honesty, though, I'm more likely to find time to chop veggies earlier in the day - so I think the slow cooker idea could be real winner.
Thanks everyone :grouphug:0 -

Hi again - I've finally caught up, you lot could yack for England!
Another good week for weight losses, so well done to everybody. It will come as no surprise that Skint_Catt is Slimmer of the Week with an amazing 7.5lb loss this week! :T
Five people have already achieved the monthly target and are on track to be Slimmer of the Month - Skint_Catt, Rustynash, Furrypig, Efrieze and Bindiboo. :j
I won't be surprised if I've missed anyone, so if I have, please let me know.
Have a good week - be careful out there!

OI! Not so fast I should be on 89.50 -
Well Im kinda in the land of the living, tho having a bit of trouble sleeping tonight, as you might notice.
I have NO idea what this week will have done for my weight loss. Ive been eating a bit so not totally foodless but nowhere near the points I should be having. Whether that will show a good loss or what I have no idea, or it could be a 'not eating enough is as bad as over eating' week. Guess Ill just need to wait til Monday lol
I REALLY want to break the 90lbs barrier this week... ideally Id like to get to 91lbs (6.5 stone). Its almost a shame I dont go to WW classes, Id have a great collection of silver 7s now lol Unfortunately Ive obviously done NO exercise this week, getting from the bedroom to the bathroom has been enough of a challenge. Ive been drinking loads of water, Id been told that drinking 2l of water a day can help weight loss too - by the time Ive added in some orange squash (sugar free ofcourse lol) it works out at 5 pints. But hey Ill give anything a go
Well done to everyone else whos lost this week.... arent we all doing well
Now after all that rambling.... Im off to bed - again!0 -

.......no confusion BB, I just saw tiredycustard's situation as a little different to the norm because of:
- what seems like a severe lack of time, which sounds as if staying to class would be very tough (and I think you'd agree there's no point paying if not staying to class?)
- she's veggie and would only ever do greens, so to be honest, I reckon I got it covered.Been there, done that, ate the cruelty-free t-shirt.:D
You are spot on though, for anyone who will be alternating between days I think it's pretty essential to go and stay for a few months because it has to become second nature what constitutes a HeB on both days.0 -

.......:o It's tonight. Not saved up, just going to take the hit of what comes - this is a one-off and nothing is going to stop me enjoying it to the maxHopefully a game of golf today and another on Monday will help a little.

... have I missed something starlight, are you ok or under the weather? I think all the plans agree that 2 litres of water is good for weight loss, not to mention healthy living in general.0
