well done to all those losers this week. I picked up a bt of interesting news today . . .apparently sales of roasting joints are up between 25-33% on last year - thanks to the awful British summer we're all looking to roast dinners to comfort us!

    Hello Peeps 4osl3rn.gif

First of all a big WELL DONE Skint_Catt for SOTW :j (didn't see that one coming did we? :D ) and to Rustynash, Furrypig, Efrieze and Bindiboo for already meeting the August challenge - we mere mortals salute you not-tagged-smiley-10144.gif

...maniac886 I was most concerned to read of your problems until you mentioned man flu 65zviwl.gif;). However, joking aside, to lose 1 stone in 6 weeks is a remarkable achievement :j Well done! and talking of poorly peeps...

...let's hope that teeni and starlight are all bright eyed and bushy tailed now...

...furrypig Please don't let it get you down not-tagged-smiley-14571.gifbecause we all have those sorts of days when we feel bloated and fat; many months ago I felt the same one Sunday evening and dreaded weighing myself the next morning, I posted here telling folks how I felt and was told not to worry as it's what the scales tell you and not how you feel, and that I would be okay in the morning - and guess what - they were right! (Although I hadn't had a curry and a bottle of wine :D ) You've done so well to lose 6lbs in 2 weeks :T and hopefully the scales will be kind to you tonight too :) ...

    ...I thought this too ajax

Ajax - I wanted to reopen the discussions about Quorn. I have tried quite a few quorn things recently following all the chat about quorn on this thread. Are there any sausages that are ok to be done in the Microwave from the fridge (ie not from frozen). I am always looking for very quick meals and sometimes 12 minutes in the oven sounds too long!!!! None of the packaging suggest microwaving them (other than the things that start from frozen). Any suggestions?

Also, even thought I don't do points, can you tell me how many points in a quorn sausage (60 calories). Thanks

....efrieze, there are three things I am always happy to talk about - golf, Nigella Lawson, and Quorn :)

None of the packaging suggests microwaving them, but I do it anyway and have never fallen to any ill effects. I very often slice a couple up, from chilled, and chuck them into a Bachelors Pasta n Sauce throw-together. I think the reason they don't recommend it is because it's not the nicest way to do them (either aesthetically or with regard to taste) rather than any other reason*. After all, who wants a pinky-grey soft sausage (easy, Delly) when browned crispy ones look and taste better?

Every sausage I have found on WW so far - and I've not checked them all by any means - is one point per sausage.

    * But if you microwave them and die a horrid death, this was not to be seen as advice.

Ajaxgeezer..and Brighton belle..Thanks for the encouragement, it does feel better to know that someone agrees with the smaller plates. I already cook 'old style', and we are trying to grow our own veggies. That uses up some calories too. Today I have not had my walk but DD and I are going to have a swim tonight. We will also probably get weighed by local Cam Diet woman. We just want to use her scales as further encouragement and then we can weigh in each week when we have our swim. I thought it helps to prevent me from cheating if someone else is involved.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

.... yes pooh, I think all of your ideas and findings in that post were top-notch! Don't get too competitive with DD though, she's much (cough, ahem) younger than you ;)
  • Hi guys, sorry to 'jump in' like this ... I could really do with some advice.

I'm in such a fix. I'll try to give an overview:

I'm a mum of 4 young 'uns (youngest - 7 months) and take care of things pretty much by myself (DH works all hours and no family around to help) I also work full time (and then some  ) So, basically, I have NO time at all ... even sleeping is proving a challenge right now.

Before anyone jumps in to say how much harder they have it ... I'm not saying I work harder or have it any more difficult than anyone else .... I'm just trying ot give some background.

Anyhow - I just don't have time to think about food, and so, I just buy, pick, and snack on any food anytime and it really shows. I succumb to sugar alot which I know throws my blood sugar out all over the place ... not good:) I used to be really healthy - but I'm just so exhausted all the time and by the time I've fixed the childrens meals... I have no time to think of myself.

To make matters worse, I am vegetarian (would like to be vegan by choice) and in an ideal world I wouldn't eat bread really. I love my veggies .. and would happily live on a 'you are what you eat diet' (if I had someone who could spend all the time needed to prepare all the food) I just don't seem to have the time to eat properly.

Now - I'm sure it must be possible ... and I'm sue plenty of people manage it okay - but I am stumped.

As I sit here writing this - I should be preparing dinner ... theres just not enough hours in the day to do it all.

I thought about tesco diets (the convenience one. But I'm worried about wasting my money on something that may not work.)

    CAN ANYONE HELP?

    Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated

.....if retiredlady comes back from Canada having lost weight, I want a recount. I've only been to Ontario but that's one helluva place to have a party, and one helluva place to enjoy some great food. Having said that I was going out to the baseball, drinking Canadian beer and staying with an Italian family so I don't suppose I gave myself much of a chance :)
