Mm mm, millionaire's slice - drooling at the thought![/quote]

I told you to avert your gaze :D . A few little treats have started creeping in this week... pavlova...pumpkin bread & jam...goji berry and date sweetmeat...
All been very nice but must get back routine today. Got a friend popping round shortly and OH has suggested we need to buy some chokky digestives to be hospitable. I've had to veto this! He insists he could hide remains from me but he can never resist my pleading (hi ajax:D ) so I know it would be hopeless. Going to chop up some fresh pineapple instead.

All doggy pics gorgeous. I want one, I want one. Totally impractical at the mo tho. Still OH quite good at fetch and carry and always up for a tummy tickle :o:D

yes it is from the full choice recipe from WW mag,

    1 onion
    2 garlic cloves
    1 carrot
    1 leek
    1 courgette
    75 g (2 3/4oz) green beans
    250 gr (9oz) swede
    1 x 400g can toms
2 tsp of dried italian mixed herbs (never found them so added black pepper)
1.2 litres (2 pints) veg stock
    basil leaves to garnish

put it all in a very large pan and boil, reduce heat, simmer for approx 30 mins. Season to taste, garnish with basil leaves. O points but if you want to add 50 gr (1 1/2 oz) small pasta shapes 10 mins before the soup is done it will add 1/2 point, making it more filling.

Made it today, smells lovely and looks fab, will freeze the rest as I have made heaps of it-80 calories per serving, serves 4.

... this is probably the time to mention.... there is debate over tinned tomatoes isn't there? The WW points calculator says they are 1.5 points a 400g tin.

ajax are you flogging that old dead horse again!!! 00020075.gif

Do you never look at your OH's book? Canned tomatoes are a free food on both the core plan and the points plan..... just accept that they are not 1.5 points per can and enjoy the saving... if you stop losing weight I would blame the 30 odd points per week you spend on wine rather than the 1.5 points you're not spending on a tin of chopped/plum tomatoes....

However, if it makes you feel better to count the 1.5 points - go ahead! they're your points and it's your loss...

Sorry if this sounds extremely rude, it's not meant to be. I don't claim to understand every part of Weightwatchers plan, I only know that if you follow it, it does work (if it ain't broke - don't fix it).
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

.. I'd love to forget it, but her consultant says they are 1.5 points too

Why oh why am I on a chocolate binge! I don't even like chocolate that much!

Just a wee guess but... totm? Maybe you're feeling a wee bit down and need the boost? Maybe you're telling yourself it's a "forbidden food" and so craving it?

Never worry, the binge will soon pass and you'll be able to pick yourself up again.

Fair enough - I'll check with my WW leader on Monday. She's been a leader for YEARS and see what she says.

.. don't get me wrong, I have no opinion on the matter. I count the 1.5 just to be on the safe side. It makes sense to me that they'd be free except:

    - on a plan that is concerned only with a ratio between calories and saturated fat, why do they abandon that when they feel like it?

    - how can the food itself be 'wrong'?

    - if tomatoes are 'wrong' and WW are right, what other foods are naturally 'wrong'?

... I'd be far more interested in how your leader answers those three questions than gives a glib "they're free cos they are" response. Those questions are the real issue, not the points values of the humble tomato.

Genuinely not trying to be awkward, but if the science is right then the science is right. End of. I don't like it when science gets abandoned with no sensible reason

Hmm TOTM is happening every bl**dy week! (oh with a day off every so often!) I was put on the pill for this reason but as soon as I hit 40 they wouldn't give me it any more and then wondered why I needed iron tablets again! Hello Docs read my  notes will you!

Not that I want to interfere in your discussion ... but could it be like SW where fruit is generally free but pureed/cooked/canned fruit isn't? I never understood why a banana was free food but if I mashed it up with a fork before i ate it it turned into a syn. If I mashed it with my teeth inside my mouth it was still free. I did wonder what happened if I mashed it with my teeth then spat it out  ... but it was too gross (and confrontational!) to ask in a meeting. But I thought you'd probably know, ajax. Or someone would.
