look forward to hearing any advice

Hi 123money and welcome. I think you are being a bit hard on yourself seeing as you only gave birth 3 weeks ago. Is it your first? And are you breastfeeding, cos you need to eat well (plenty and often) to feed yourself and the little one? Took me over a year to get on the weight loss train after having my baby, so well done you but try not to be hard on yourself if you don't stick to it 100% cos it's hard to diet and look after a new baby. Good luck.0 -

Dragon - have you tried going to your local Family planning clinic? I know a few people who would recommend the merina iud for those kinds of problems and I definitley know some people over 40 who have one.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
thought I would pop along and join you guys.
I am trying to loose weight by eating smaller portions, stopping when I am full, only eating when I am hungry and doing more exorcise.
I am struggling with the exorcise though. So far I have
Day 1 - ran 2.5 miles
Day 2 - Attempted to run but had to stop as I had done too much previously
Day 3 - Swam 20 lengths of the pool
Day 4 - Cycled 2.5 miles and broke the bike (gears went)
Day 5 - Borrowed bike, Cycled 2 miles and left bike there.
Day 6 - Walked 2 miles, collected bike and cycled back (then this one broke)
Day 7 - Aerobics video
Day 8 and 9 - days off
Now I have run out of ideas. I have got a bad knee so cant run, killed both bikes (mine and DHs). I wanted to do something every day. Any ideas?
The eating is going ok. I have started getting a veg box so that I am forced to plan around the veg rather than the meat and because I dont feel that I am denying myself anything I haven't had any cravings yet.
I need to loose 3 stone and figured that it should take 6 months so I am aiming to do it in 1 year! Would love your help and advise.

[quote=Brighton_belle;6176228Poor_you_Dellybelly: I go spare if my sleep is interupted like that. I usually lie there for a couple of hours mutering darkly and then finally ring the noise complaint unit at the council only to find then engaged for the last hour before they close at 3 a.m. I need my sleep.

They close at 3am! what's the point in that - usually most parties etc. don't really get going until then!
Having said that, our council don't have a noise complaint unit, and it took me an hour and a half to pluck up the courage to go in and complain (I was terrified I'd get a slap or worse!).
Maybe someone can answer a question that arose last night from the whole noisy neighbours experience: ; Why do people having parties at 4.30 am look so shocked when their neighbour turns up at their door to complain in their dressing gown? Do they really think you're going to take the time to get dressed when all you really care about is getting back to sleep? I know I'm not completely horrific looking, even at that time of the morning.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

I was looking at your activity over the past 9 days - phew! that's a lot of work. Some of us on here have bought a pedometer and are currently trying the 10k steps a day challenge. What about trying a walking challenge... you can get a pedometer for as little as 2.97 in Argos (amongst other places) wear it for a few days, then clock up your average and set yourself a target to improve it by 10%. Walking is much easier on you knees than running. I'd also say to keep up swimming once or twice a week, just to get work your other muscles without doing any further damage to your knees.
Good luck with your targets, stick with us and let us know how you're getting along. If you find that your cravings are starting to dig in, why not send us a post, it might just take long enough to take your mind off it. (and join in the canned tomatoes debate too.)Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Hi Guys
I have been missing in action for a while but I am back now and raring to go. My new beginning starts tomorrow with plans for lots of exercise and I will be following the RC GI quick start for the first 2 weeks. I am planning to walk, cycle, swim and bounce (kids big trampoline) my way to losing an excess *!*!*!*! stone. I have signed up to do the Aspire channel swim which starts Monday 17th September (I have to swim 22 miles in 13 weeks - which equates to 1408 lengths of my 25metre pool, approx 37 lengths 3 times a week) I am going to start cycling to and from work every day which does involve 2 small hill climbs. I have signed up for a cannons MS next weekend and I aim to walk or cycle instead of using car whenever I can. I will be swimming in my lunch break at UNI (I go once a week). There that's my exercise and diet sorted I just need to stick to it - that's my major problem guys so I really need to stay here and get inspiration from you lot.
Sign me up for the september 5lb challenge please. I am so desperate to lose this weight once and for all and I hope I can support others as much as I hope you will be supporting me.

Thanks for the welcome Dellybelly.
I would love to join the challenge. I am only weighing myself once a month otherwise I will hyper focus on the numbers. I read the suggestion of writing it down in lots of forms (lbs, kg etc) and that seems a good idea.
Re exercise - I walk loads anyway. The kids school is a 1.5 mile round trip so I do that once a day (hubby collects as it fits in better with his work) all be it at a slow pace. I might try the pedometer idea but dont really hold out much hope of it working. Its stupid I know but I want a quick fix!!!
I used to know of a website that did free workout plans. You could type in what you wanted to achieve and how you wanted to do it and it would help you plan when to fit it all in and even had suggestions of exercises to do at home. If it got to easy it would up the difficulty level. It was great but I lost the address.
Never mind I will keep plugging on. Sorry for being so negative but I have just realized that I am starving. I need to watch that I think
Thanks again
