MSE News: How to beat Sky price hikes

The calls packages have already changed (see website):
Free weekend calls, when taking a line have gone, but 'evenings and weekends ' is back at £4. Anytime at £5 is ended, but you can continue if you already take this package and there is a new Anytime Extra at £7,which includes calls to mobiles. International extra is £12.
The £17.40 is already quoted for new customers.0 -
The new talk packages include UK mobile calls- there's also a PAYT which is free for people who never use their landline as they have a good mobile package and just have the line rental for having BB.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks for the replies.
I did see the new anytime package on their site but assumed that the non-mobile anytime package would remain as a 'legacy' package or something.
I got through to someone else at Sky and they confirmed that we'd be upgraded to the new package at the same cost. They didn't seem to know if our line rental would increase to the new rate though - it didn't last year.0 -

Found out that the line rental and phone package were gonna increase £4 a month. Checked my future bills online and also saw my free broadband was also due to expire, increasing my monthly bill to £72ish. Phoned them and asked them to see what they could do, 5 mins later, £8 off my TV, £4 of line rental and £4 off phone package, making a saving of £16 and making my bill cheaper than it was. Not huge amounts but means the world to me. It's worth doing people 😊😊You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0

I have just been on the phone to Sky, I have tv, phone and broadband with them and have been a customer for over 7 years. The best they could offer me was £10 off my £54 monthly bill for 10 months only. Doesn't sound much to me! I mentioned I had priced up talk talk, BT etc, but it didn't make any difference. She also said that once I decided to cancel, I couldn't retract this?!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.....
They do this so you cave in. Stick to your guns and believe me you will have a phone call in a few days offering you something better xxYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
I currently have Sky TV (incl HD but excl sports & movies), Talk anytime & Unlimited broadband (not fibre). I'm paying about £29 a month at the moment for my broadband, phone line & calls. After proce increases, its going to be nearer £35 which might not sound much on it's own but when combined with TV it's quite a chunk. Am looking at possibly changing to a different supplier, and maybe changing to Fibre as the current service keeps dropping out. I can get Talk Talk for about £27 for 18 months plus around £40 cashback depending which site I use. Any suggestions?0

Have recently left SKY as they couldn't match their previous offer which I've had for the last year. Received email last night to say come back, 60% off and £100 credit. Is this the best they offer...tempted to go back as that is about the same price I had it last time. Any luck with getting the sky box upgraded and broadband included in this too?0

Anyway to answer your question, you will probably have to pay a token for a new box and will almost certainly be tied into a 12 month contract. As for broadband they are practically giving it away especially if you are in a VM area.0 -
Thanks, i'm the same, we don't watch loads and could do without it but like the Sky+ functionality...60% and £100 credit is much better value.
Might also ask to see what they can do re phone/bb while I'm on otherwise might go to BT for that.0
